HEADS UP ~ The historic "Grange" in Mount Victoria is holding an "open day"
The Grange is holding an open day! You are invited to join one of the tours through the heritage listed property now owned by Barker College for the outdoor education program. Step back in time and learn about the significant history, architecture, and natural wonder of this beautiful place.
The Grange is the earliest of the country retreats in Mount Victoria, built in 1876 for William Richman Piddington by the famous Architect John Horbury Hunt. The main house has always been known as The Grange; however, the property has also been known as Fairy Dell Estate.
From 1914 through to the 1930s The Grange was run as a guesthouse and mountain retreat and was a popular tourist spot and honeymoon destination. In the late 1930s the property was listed for sale and was eventually purchased by the Children Special Service Mission (CCSM) and Scripture Union, to be used primarily for conferences and camps for church youth groups. In 1989, The Grange was purchased by Barker College.
Monday May 13. You are invited to visit the site throughout the day where staff will be able to show you through the property. Two tours will run at 10:30am and 1:30pm followed by tea and biscuits." There is no cost to attend and they will cap the day at 50 people on each tour. Monday

Just before dawn breaks on Mother's Day, Sunday 12 May, Mount Vic Flicks will be opening their doors to hold their biggest annual fundraising event - The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final!

Streamed live from Malmö, Sweden, it's a celebration of music and diversity and also a fun way to spend a Sunday morning while raising money for Pink Mountains. We are having some photography done in the village that BMCC and businesses can use. It will be wonderful to have a library of images.

These shops are Mount Vic and Me and Robyn Austin Leadlighting (and taxidermy). Did you know all of our shops in the village are heritage-listed except for the General Store?

Etico Trainees

Let us introduce you to our terrific trainee Trent!
Trent spoke about his favourite part of the Independence Program here at Hotel Etico. He enjoys the restaurant, bar and kitchen, and always does a wonderful job whilst on shift. Trent also likes doing the vacuuming, ironing and washing up.

His hobbies include listening to music, especially Michael Jackson. Favourite movies are Free W***y and Huckleberry Finn.

Trent’s favourite food is Chicken Schnitzel with vegetables and frozen ice blocks (sugar free).
Trent loves his fitness with weights, situps and push ups.

His future aspirations after graduating is to work in a restaurant around Sydney city whilst learning how to take public transport.

This beautiful row of terraces houses boutique accommodation in the heart of Mount Victoria. The railway station is just down the street making it a beautiful way to relax and escape the city. The evenings are starting to turn cold and this property is lovely and snug when you've had a day out.

The Mount Victoria Business Association was set up to provide a forum to promote and support the interests of member businesses in Mount Victoria with the objective of;
1. developing agreed positions on behalf of businesses on issues that impact Mount Victoria
2. advocating as one voice on issues that impact businesses in Mount Victoria
3. representing Mount Victoria member businesses in communications to politicians; councillors; Commonwealth, State and local government and other relevant organisations
4. promoting Mount Victoria as a destination
5. providing a forum for businesses to collaborate, network and exchange ideas.and to;
6. work with other organisations to help address issues that impact Mount Victoria more generally.

Mount Victoria Business Association was conceived and then incorporated as an association in the June of 2022. After that we set about developing a strategic positioning document for the association, whereby the agreed core focus of the MVBA is summed up by the phrase.

Most importantly, we all agreed that we would all honour and work under the associations’ three core operating values, which are;
