This summer Ozzie received an Individual Artist Project Grant that afforded him the ability to make handmade gear to take on a trek through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. While walking 70 miles on the Kekekabic and Border Route Trails, Ozzie had the opportunity to test the gear that he made from natural materials. Along the way he learned a lot about this gear and spent a significant amount of time thinking about how he and other humans interact with our outdoor spaces.
