If you have no plans for this Labor day weekend here are some of the must-see, less touristy spots in the Pacific NorthWest to checkout!
1. Palouse Falls, WA: Did you know that Palouse falls is considered the official waterfall of Washington state?! This 200ft fall is located in eastern Washington, approx 1.3hrs drive from Spokane. The falls can be viewed from the visitor area above or by hiking down to the base.
2. Olympic Hot Springs, WA: This remote hot spring is in the Olympic National Park, WA and is located at the end of the Boulder Creek Trail. This beautiful spring provides a peaceful and private setting to soak in the breathtaking forest scenery. Perfect end to a 2.5miles hike!
3. Shaniko Ghost town, OR : Over the years, shifting economics and transportation have created a number of ghost towns in Oregon. Shaniko, once touted as the "Wool Capital of the World" now survives as a living ghost town with a population of 30. This town is a a great reflection of the changing times and its impact on the society. A must-see spot for all the history aficionados!
4. Shoshone falls : Touted as the "Niagara of the West", this breathtaking waterfall is found in Idaho, north of Twin falls city. Depending on the snow and the precipitation that year, the waterfall can rush up to 32,000 cubic feet per second creating a nice mist and beautiful rainbows. There is also a laser and light show in the evening with food trucks, making it a perfect spot to enjoy with your family.
