Global entry prices will increase on Oct. 1. But, the good news is that those under 18 will have fees waived when a parent or guardian is applying at the same time or is already a member. So if you're booking your trip for later this year or next year, wait until October to apply for your child's global entry.

It's funny: people often comment that they thought travel agents were obsolete since folks can book on their own. True enough. But travel agents offer a service plus experience. Anyone can book a vacation. But a travel agent has a host of resources at their ready to find you the right place within your budget without you having to spend countless hours doing the research. And, in most cases, it really won't cost you any more. And if you have a problem, do you want to spend your vacation sitting on hold? Of course not! Your travel agent can make the calls to fix your problem while you enjoy your time away. Once a client went and enjoyed her tour while I made the calls to fix a room screw up. She was happy when she returned from her tour that the problem was resolved. Another time, clients wanted to get members of their party to ride in the same vehicle (they booked separately) back to the airport but couldn't find their rep at the resort. While they enjoyed their time together, I made the calls to make it happen. Just some examples of what makes an agent more valuable than a booking engine. Anyway, if you are already working with an agent you like, then stick with them! But if you book on your own and want to give an agent a try, feel free to contact me. Some good tips. And I'll add: pack a lot of patience: no one should be taking out their frustrations on gate agents, flight attendants or fellow passengers.

If you intend to travel during the pandemic, an airport, train station, or a bus terminal is probably the last place you want to get stuck.
