PB Valley Khao Yai: The Art of Wine in the Heart of the Tropics 🌴🍇

Producing wine in a tropical country presents its own unique challenges 🌴. The founders of the PB Valley Khao Yai winery have managed to establish large-scale wine production with a 500-hectare vineyard 🍇 and a state-of-the-art winery, which is no small feat in a country as hot and humid as Thailand 🌞.

Traditionally, grapes are grown in latitudes between 20° and 50°, and while vines are fairly adaptable plants, they don’t like extreme heat or humidity and are therefore not normally suited to the tropics 🌡️. Fortunately, Khao Yai offers certain distinctive characteristics that have contributed to its success as one of Thailand's leading wine regions 🏞️. Located on the edge of Khao Yai National Park, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, the region maintains a relatively cool average temperature throughout the year, with morning temperatures dropping to a pleasant 15°-20° during the harvest season 🍂.

The first grapes were planted here in 1991 by the Thai owner with the help of a dedicated German wine expert 🤝. Today, the estate produces 150,000 liters of wine each year, enough to fill 200,000 bottles 🍾.

PB Valley is located on the edge of Khao Yai National Park, about 150 km northeast of Bangkok 🚗. It is easily accessible from Bangkok, and what could be simpler than renting a private car with a driver from Bangkok Beyond to take you there and bring you back 🛣️.
