“I discovered Orphx while living in Montreal because my flatmates had a poster of a show Orphx had done in January 2017 with Corridor, for an event by audiovisual collective Modern Colony. Since then, Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey have been a great inspiration because they made me realize that you can have both experimental and club music creative output, and even release both under the same moniker. Hell yeah! This album is from Orphx early archive material”.

“We are in winter 2022, during COVID lockdown. I take the train from Montreal to Halifax. Departure January 19th at 7pm, train arrival January 20 at 5pm.
22 hours on the train, alone, the feeling of alienation converged with the cold, desolate view from the train over the white landscapes of isolated eastern Canada, snow and ice everywhere. Under these specific conditions, listening to this album (the band’s first, featuring members of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Efrim Menuck, Sophie Trudeau and Thierry Amar) felt like a transcendental experience, like the convergence of horror and beauty”.

Happy to share a more experimental mix for The Lightvessel. It's a disordered diary of the mind with old and new memories, distorted, convoluted, like feelings. Intertwined with reality, like a labyrinth or a dream.
All these tracks resonate strongly. Some old and new favorites that I wanted to include because of how special they feel. From electroacoustic compositions and soundscapes to drone, unclassifiable experimental music and noise, doom, early industrial, post-rock and post-punk. In no particular order.
A big thank you to these artists (tracklist coming soon) you bring joy in our strange era. You'll also find in this mix 2 tracks released on my label Mutant Modality (Houses Of Worship aka thisquietarmy & Hellenica - from Montréal ; Der Mord aka Yannick Franck - from Brussels ) and 2 ambient tracks I composed (as 'Ottoman Grüw' and 'Jean Grünewald'). “I am still processing what happened last night” is the episode #8 of The Lightvessel.

We are delighted to welcome the Italian duo (Brutal Forms) with their stunning mixtape.

“As we embark on the recording of this mix, we’re excited because this podcast isn’t just about a chance to showcase a music selection, but it’s about tracing the roots that have shaped our artistic vision. In the first part, we dive into experimental music with wild rhythms and tempos, but soon, what was an abstraction of industrial-experimental music gives way to something more tangible. In the second part, the atmosphere grows heavier, and we navigate into the realms of doom metal and industrial music. The doom-metal sounds gradually fade into the background, and in the third part, a new energy emerges. We’re captivated by the beats and fierce guitars of industrial metal alongside the power electronics. Finally, in the last part, we reach the climax where death-metal-industrial influences collide, and we unleash all the passion and emotion that has been building throughout the mix.
