One of our custom made “pinecone slingshots” mounted on the railing of the Boothby treehouse. Surgical rubber tubing, leather pouch, and a hardwood frame mounted on a lazy-Susan swivel!

Monkey bars embedded throughout the platform framing below the Boothby treehouse. Not your traditional A-to-B run of bars, but making the most out of the space on this compact build. Can definitely see some monkeys getting active under here🐒🐒🐒

We did a traditional cedar shingle roof on the Boothby treehouse, with shingles directly over 1x slats. We also decided this was a small enough roof that we’d just shingle the whole thing in the shop during prefab, then disassemble into two roof pieces for shipping & raising on site. It was a bit of a lift, but sure made the on site install quick! Any time we can shift work from on site to the shop always seems to be a win-win! Unless we make the pieces too heavy to lift. Definitely never done that before though 🙈.

Last month we stopped by this beauty of a project we finished a couple years ago outside of Boulder to install a zipline from the treehouse deck down to the yard!

Over the summer we moved just down the road to a new shop that used to be an airplane hangar at the old Fort Collins Downtown Airport, which closed in 2006. It has a massive 50ft x 14ft door that opens the entire side of the shop up, facing the abandoned airstrip. It has proved extremely convenient for forklifting wide material directly in and out of the shop, and makes for a great flow between indoor & outdoor work space. We’re currently building a mezzanine inside for some more storage space as well as a lofted enclosed office (that will actually have heat!). Last picture is of the first night where brought the kids and takeout food for the “scooter and bike in the new empty warehouse” party, as is tradition! I’m stoked for this awesome new space and the cool projects we have coming up to build here!

We’ve had the awesome opportunity recently to do some log building for Timmerhus (amazing log builders & timber framers out of Boulder, CO), assisting with components of a custom home project they’re building in Boulder. Here are some shots from a small log pergola we just wrapped up in the shop for one side of the house.
