We will survive! and this is our plan to do so

We are launching our new programs today that we are running for the 2020/21 upcoming season! With our shift in focus on our local community and how we can survive without our International students! Please feel free to share to help us spread the world, especially if you are a circus student or performer in India!

Things are still quite uncertain here in Goa, although the region we are located in is relatively unaffected by covid, we still don't have a clear answer from the Indian government of when the borders will reopen for tourism. Week 1 of the circus build has come to an end 7 days of construction, painting, handstands, moving earth, planning, oh and mounting a 9 meter rig with 6 suspension points in the middle of the jungle. Welcome Aditi Deshpande!

Welcome instructor of as our mallakhamb instructor for the Jan 29-feb 8 in Goa!
• Aditi Deshpande, Founder of Fly High Aerial Arts is a trained gymnast and a professional Rope Mallakhamb sports person. 10 times national champion and a recipient of the most prestigious State level award, Shri Shiva Chatrapati Award (2004), Aditi has achieved numerous accolades.
• She has learnt ‘Rope Mallakhamb’ from the age of 5,under the brilliant guidance of the respected guru, none other than her Father Shri Uday Vishwanath Deshpande and taking inspiration from her mother’s artistic background, Aditi passionately pursued her career in the field of Aerial Arts. Her thirst for learning and further improvising on her skills, took her to San Francisco, U.S.A to further evolve as an Aerial Silks instructor!

We are so excited to have Gianluca Gerlando Gentiluomo circus artist teaching rope during our as well as a 6 day rope and straps intensive this season! Gianluca came to bliss circus 2 years ago and we fell in love with his playful monkey spirit and his genuine passion and artistry in his aerial practice!

Introducing Gianluca Gerlando Gentiluomo - After almost 10 years of self-taught training, Gianluca graduated from the ‘Cirko Vertigo school’ in Italy and ‘Arc en Cirque’ in France
​
He works as a teacher for professional and amateur circus school with: ‘Scuola di Cirko Vertigo’, ‘Accademia Materiaviva’, ‘UP circus school’, ‘Piccola scuola di circo di Milano’, ‘Spazio NU’
He also tours internationally offering his ‘Rope & Roll workshop’ in different circus schools and aerial camps, proposing technical and research work on Corde lisse, Silks and aerial Straps.
He has obtained the BIAC (Brevet d’Initiation aux Arts du Cirque) issued by the French FFEC,
certifying his teaching of circus arts for amateurs and professionals.
His repertoire is constantly evolving, exploring and mixing the Rope, Silks and Straps technique, searching for the various links between them and using dance and movement quality as a staple. Check out more information on Gianluca in the links below, including the event pages!

What a run at Dublin Fringe Festival 😍

Last night we were awarded with The London Launchpad award which will allow us to present our work in London, giving the show an extended lifespan and an opportunity to share it with even more people.

It's a wonderful vote of confidence from the festival, Culture Ireland and London Irish Centre that the show is worthy of representing the Irish Arts sector. We couldn't be happier.

So this is a thank you, to everyone who has helped us along the way with this project no matter how big or small. We couldn't have done it without you. 😇

(We are just realising how many people have helped us along the way. This is ridiculous! )

Did you hear the news?

Did you know that Bliss Circus has moved??? It is true, although we greatly loved our little home on the beach our lease was up and we decided to move on to the next chapter. Think secret garden circus...as we have moved to a new location just a few steps away from our previous location into the eco resort this means more shade, a nice dedicated Shala for acro, stretching, and movement, plus an onsite dormitory for our students and friends. There will also be a super cute cafe onsite managed by Bhakti, which means a great ambiance, while still less than 5 minutes from the sea! We are excited for the new chapter and looking forward to welcoming our circus community to our new location. Due to the move and more freedom, we will be hosting a lot more workshops and intensives this year, which will be announced soon! 📸

Beautiful shot from one of our favourite instructors that was a huge part of the Bliss Aerial Training Camp from Day 1! .sarah started with us years ago when the project was such a baby and not even in Goa! We loved having Sarah as our main silks instructor for many years and we are super proud of her following her dreams on a big project in Berlin now. We miss her being at Bliss and yet she has made space for some talented silk teachers to fill her shoes. We had the lovely last season and are right now in the process of choosing our silks teacher for the next camp, Bliss 2020! Who's it going to be? Exciting announcement!

Officially announcing that we are extending our dates and will now remain open until the 5th of March. We are open for any professional circus artists who want to come use the space for open training, amateurs who want to take drop in aerial classes, friends who want to help with the social circus project, and artists who want to participate in our circus shows. Please contact us for more details and help us spread the word about our circus in paradise!

We are taking a week off shows for creation time! We will be back in full swing for our next Open Stage Circus Cabaret on Feb 9th. In the meantime we are running adults aerial classes from 9:30-11 on Wednesdays and Fridays. Open training hours for circus professionals also available. Please contact us for more information! Announcement time! We have decided to run the beginners aerial training camp at Bliss Circus from Feb 6-10! We will be teaching aerial silks, hoop/trapeze, plus handstands, deep stretch/contortion and take a adventurous dolphin boat trip to a private beach! So excited for our friends Duo Circ2m aka Team Finland to join us in the instructors team for the 2019 Camp!
Myrsky Rönkä and Marjut Hernesniemi met 2015 in Turku Arts Academy, Finland. Their first encounter was a wordless moment of movement. Since then they have been researching with different apparatus as a duo specializing in vertical rope which is what they will be sharing during the camp. In their performances with the rope you can see hints from chinese pole and partner acrobatics. Even though they believe in hard work in the end, it is all about the connection. While they are not hanging in the air you can find them riding with their little yellow iron horse Rauski.
