Okinawa - An Introvert's Perspective My intent is to formulate an introvert's rating system to activities in Okinawa.

Entry Rokuban:

Uken Beach is a quiet little place to the East Side of the island. When I say quiet, I mean reeeeeaaaallll quiet, too.

Con: You do have to pay for parking unless you want to park on the street. Not a bad idea unless the workers are trimming the grass at that time.
The restrooms here are in ground toilets. This means if you have an aggressive bowel movement you better be prepared to squat.

Pro: Like I said, super quiet. There is music playing over the loud speakers. It is not overbearing, either. Just nice, low key, music, that reminds me of Hawaii.

Entry Goban:

Peri Peri Chicken is easily missed as you travel through Ishikawa due to the traffic situation and intersection that it is positioned at.

If you do, perhaps, catch a little glimpse of it you will notice that it is just a small, little "hole in the wall" place that serves up outstanding chicken dishes. Really only two dishes...either the burrito (which is my favorite) and a bowl (basically, a burrito without the tortilla). Both are awesome.

As an introvert Japan is paradise because locals don't even interact with you much. It's all the damn, American foreigners that you have to worry about.

Entry Sanban

Hedo point in Okinawa is the most northern point that you can reach. It is absolutely beautiful to experience almost as if the rest of Okinawa doesn't exist behind you.

This is only my second time here. I set out to experience the sun rise on. So, at 0245 I got into my car with my doggo and we drove north for 1.5 hours. Reached Hedo in the pitch black and waited.

Once it started becoming light I noticed I was not the only one there to greet the sun. As it broke the distant horizon you are hit with an "awwwww".

Great place to visit if you can make the drive. 10/10

Entry Niban

Living here in Okinawa the perception is that all sushi is the same. Well, it is definitely not. There is "fast food" sushi, which most people eat due to the price. Then there is "fu***ng fantastic" sushi, which a lot of people do, but the big difference it that it is still considered a treat, vice "just another meal".

Finding that right place to treat yourself to great sushi can be a task with the over-abundance of places to choose from.

Well, if you are looking for "fu***ng fantastic" sushi to treat yourself YoshiHachi is the place to go. The main guy, Yoshi, has traveled the world through his lifetime studying and treating others to his art of sushi making.

As you enter you will notice hundreds, if not thousands, of pieces of memorabilia that Yoshi picked up along the way. And, YES, that is him in the photos. And, a DOUBLE YES, that is still him behind the counter making your sushi.

Entry Ichiban

About six months ago, while visiting Kumamoto, I had the opportunity to experience Horse Sashimi. Since this experience I have been craving more. I could remember the raw texture and the never before, very unique, taste it provided.

In the town of Ishikawa is a restaurant, Gyu-Kaku, that my work met at for an outing. What do I notice on the menu? That's right, raw horse as an appetizer. Made a little different than my Kumamoto experience, but I could not pass it up. I am glad I didn't, either. Super delicious. Yes, this is raw. Even though Gyu-Kaku is a yakiniku place this dish is not supposed to be cooked. If you go here DO NOT ruin it by cooking it. Put away those inside voices that say "you are not supposed to eat raw red meats", and indulge yourself in awesomeness.

Pin to Gyu-Kaku will be in the comments. Go try it out.
