Once we arrived at , I found my people and took care of some business that was outstanding on my to do list. Then we enjoyed sneaking a few peeks here and there as the vendors finished setting up for the weekend. It was such a nice, relaxed, behind-the-scenes atmosphere without all the crazy crowds and chaos that are sure to come in the morning!

My most favorite thing at a fiber festival is to hear the sheep, and we weren't disappointed today, with plenty of baaa's and maaa's floating around while I was in the barn looking for a certain someone who eluded me... and then I nearly fell over when I stumbled upon these gorgeous beauties! Check them out! ! 😲🥰😍 Unfortunately, that's about all we'll see of Rhinebeck this year! 😭 I'll share a bit of the loose ends I wrapped up today if I can snag a few nice pictures in the daylight tomorrow. Have a great time if you're going this weekend! And I hope all you vendors have a great show and ! 😁😎🤩🥰

And on the way to , we came upon the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. I hadn't been there since I was a bored young teen with my Dad, and even though there was no air show going on today, I just had to go take it in again for a few minutes to remember him by. I bet he never could have imagined that day that I would definitively reverse my state of aviation boredom just a few years later - by jumping out of a perfectly good aer-o-plane down in Gardiner, NY! 😁😁😁 He was almost as excited about it as I was! !

If you’re gluten free, especially if you have celiac disease, you know eating out safely can be a real challenge.

Paper Lantern Asian Grill & Sushi in Marriottsville, MD is close to MDSW and was really good! Even their plain, clear broth was delicious. The hot food was served piping hot, even as take out, and they were very knowledgeable about the gluten issue. We look forward to our next visit. Go. Enjoy! 😊

Walter Turpening is the sweetest man! I really enjoyed my visit to his booth at MDSW '17 - he tells captivating stories as he weaves as you watch him masterfully craft his gorgeous, innovative benches. He even braids the cords he uses himself. More of his work at WT Benches, Stools & Chairs. Thank you again for letting me rest a while on your cheerful and comfy bench, Walter!! Fondly remembering the Olde Liberty Fibre Faire at A Goode View Alpaca Farm in Goode, VA.

Our first event was unforgettable! Getting there we unknowingly drove the rather scary Skyline Drive through Shenandoah National Park.. It was our first ever event on our 28th Anniversary.. We weren't quite ready and forgot to take booth photos.. And there was a monsoon that closed us all down early and soaked us to the skin! But we met all the nicest people in a most beautiful place and learned a lot from it all. It’s still one of our best memories together, and it always will be!

We're planning another visit soon to Windborne Farm, home of Barb and Geof Ruppert's famous Covered Corriedales and Cormo Sheep. This was our amazing 2017 visit - an absolute highlight of the year where we were so warmly greeted, met the flock, the herding dogs and puppies, a newborn lamb, and even helped (?) shear the last covered ewe of the season! What a special, unforgettable treat! Can't wait to see you all again very soon!

If ever in Chatham, NY, be sure to stop by The Warm Ewe - a landmark yarn store right on Main Street - we missed the chance to say hello, though we really enjoyed seeing the architecture of the town beautifully highlighted at night!

Also of note but not pictured is Our Daily Bread Deli, where delicious gluten free bread, muffins and other treats can be found (go early!).

It's been quite a while since last we posted, the road's been quite twisty and turny! Very glad to be back and continue on this adventure of a journey!
