Embrace.Today They and their entire family are committed to fighting for all those seeking equality, civil rights and human rights.

We empower our diverse youth with the knowledge that their differences are the very source of innovation and enlightenment in our world and work with companies, schools, and community organizations to provide training and job opportunities. Like many parents of transgender kids, Peter and Sarah Tchoryk consider themselves “sleeping giants,” awakened to the needs of the LGBTQ community through thei

r transgender son. They went public in support of the Guidance on Safe and Supportive Learning Environments for LGBTQ Students, passed by the Michigan State Board of Education in 2016. Peter and Sarah are members of the Human Rights Campaign National Parents Council for Transgender Equality and active in telling their family’s story in the media, workshops, and public forums, in an effort to increase understanding. Embrace.Today is partnered with Springmatter.org, home to the OPEN MINDS | OPEN HEARTS | OPEN WORLDS community and network. We support an educational initiative promoting diversity, inclusivity, and collaboration by applying the philosophies of Dr. King; a platform for expressing the human experience of living life authentically and fearlessly; and a network of inclusive companies, community organizations, diverse individuals, advocates, educators, and schools that have taken a stand in support of human rights and diverse populations. We believe that all people can have a meaningful impact when empowered with the education, training, and resources to accomplish their goals. Our vision is to fulfill the Dream in which every human being has the unalienable right to live authentically and have equal and equitable opportunities in education, employment, housing, and healthcare — and the ability to live peacefully and productively in a ‘world house’ that values diversity.

"There have been organized attempts to classify, discriminate, and dehumanize LGBTQ+ youth and families and the people who love and support them. There has been an increase in the hurtful, hateful language and behavior of racism and antisemitism. There have been efforts to undermine education that would otherwise provide full, equitable, and inclusive access to curriculum, and to censor, limit, deny, and ban books. There have been efforts to reject any curriculum or instruction that asks students to take on tough topics like our own country's history of racism and the historical and contemporary lived experiences of our own citizens. The attacks and impact on students is deplorable. The attempts to deny or restrict the teaching of history is dangerous.”

There is no greater evil than those who condemn others in the name of religion — except those who condemn children in the name of religion. All this pain and suffering because people are manipulated by unholy Christian nationalist doctrine that serves one purpose and one purpose only — power. Christian nationalism is an invention of corrupt men who defile all that is sacred of religion, all that is moral, all that is just, and all that is good. Fight Christian nationalism with me.

The hospital became the target in recent weeks of activists who made a variety of false claims about medical treatment provided to young transgender people.

Fifty-four years ago today, Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated as he stood on the second-floor balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. In support of the city’s striking sanitation workers, King delivered his final address the previous evening, 3 April 1968, at Bishop Charles Mason Temple. During his “I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” address, King stated that despite current racial and economic challenges, the change he’s witnessed offers hope. He said, “I know, somehow, that only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. And I see God working in this period of the twentieth century that men in some strange way are responding … And wherever they are assembled today, … the cry is always the same: ‘We want to be free.’”

King stressed that “Now I’m just happy that God has allowed me to live in this period, to see what is unfolding.” He urged the crowd to remain steadfast in their cause in the face of adversity and reflected on the tribulations of his own past, and his gratitude for having survived them to witness the beginnings of social change. He said: “And so I’m happy tonight; I’m not worried about anything; I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.”

Anti-LGBTQ legislation is abuse and threatens the very existence of our LGBTQ kids. We’ve been here before — parents and their children having to defend their own humanity. My child’s humanity is not open to debate. The people proposing this legislation must be held accountable.

Recent measures in Florida, Texas and elsewhere serve to traumatize trans children and their families, uphold ideas that trans children are inherently troubled, and go against medical advice

Watching the Supreme Court nominee was a major moment, but her treatment by Republican senators felt all too familiar. “Every Black woman speaks that language,” one woman said.
