The rare salt formations discovered on the shores of the Great Salt Lake in 2019 have returned, and officials at Great Salt Lake State Park are leading tours for people who want to see them up close. The mounds only form during the winter months, and they can grow up to a few feet tall.

Let’s take a second and talk about Grosvenor Arch! Located just 35 minutes (11 miles) away from Kodachrome Basin, the two sandstone arches tower over 150 feet. Then it’s just a short 500 foot walk to get underneath them! The Cottonwood Road that leads to the arches can be impassible at times. Use caution if it has recently rained in the area. Feel free to stop by the Kodachrome Basin Visitor Center to get up-to-date information on how the road conditions have been. Happy hiking!

There are many scenes we pass, sometimes on a daily basis, that we don't appreciate until we finally see them from the right angle or in better light. I've always loved this scene along southwestern Utah's Virgin River, but didn't realize just how impressive it was until I saw it from this aerial viewpoint.

This perspective translates well to how we engage with family, friends and the people encounter in life. Perhaps we need to give them more of an opportunity to be seen in their best light and from the right altitude.
