What a fun photoshoot this was! 🧜

Anemone Fish 🐠
Palau's underwater reefs are full of beautiful anemones and their delightful inhabitants! 🪸
Anemones provide clownfish with shelter and protection with their stinging nematocysts. Meanwhile, the anemone receives nutrients from the clownfishes' waste.
This is one of the most classic examples of symbiosis, found all throughout the animal kingdom.

Do you want to join our big animals expedition Baja California, Mexico?! ✨
We opened up a second group in November, and there are only a couple of spots left!!
During the trip we will offer an underwater photography workshop and take images of the famous sardine run, encounter striped marlin, playful sea lions, humpback whales, whale sharks, orcas, dolphins and so much more!!
~ Hope to sea you there! ~
Real life mermaid ✨
"As a kid, I would spend hours playing mermaids in the pool. Now, I do it for real, for the sake of art."

Leopard shark: Edited vs RAW ⭐
We can't stress enough how important the post processing part of underwater photography is.
Check out the difference between this RAW file and the final edited copy by 📸
Our first Baja trip in October filled up so quickly, that we opened a second trip for the week after!! 🦭✨
There are only a couple of spots left for this adventure, led by our trip leader and underwater photographer David Langlois!

Giant Cuttlefish ✨
These creatures are some of our favourite subjects for photography! Cephalopods have the unique ability to change their colours and patterns to camouflage, meaning that they always have a fresh new pose or angle to capture.
Oh, and they also look like little alien spaceships floating through the water. 🛸
📸
Photography Tip Tuesday:
Try placing your subject a little off center, to draw the viewer's eye to different parts of the image.

Happy Women’s Dive Day from our dive family to yours! ✨🧜♀️🤿
Dancing Sea Lion ✨
Sea Lions have got to be some of the cutest and most playful animals to swim with!
On this day, we swam with a curious pod for around 30 minutes. 🥺
It's moments like these that remind us of why we fell in love with the ocean in the first place!
📸
THE BEST DIVE EVER! Yesterday, on our second dive of the day two humpback whales swam right by and circled us!! 🥹🥹🥹
There were many squeals and underwater hugs. 🫶✨
What's your favourite diving moment? 🤿

“My recommendation for new travelers in the area is - don’t expect to see everything on one trip. Plan to come back again in different times of the year to experience all kinds of incredible wildlife.”
Check out our new blog post, where freedive instructor Donna Schechter and share her insights and expertise about Baja California’s underwater secrets!

Hammerhead Sharks ✨
These juvenile hammerheads were schooling in a “shiver” for protection in numbers. They’ve been gathering in the same spot for two years in a row now - sheltered behind a sand bar at our local beach on the Gold Coast. 🥲
How lucky are we to be able to witness this incredible phenomenon right off the beach?!
📸
Australian Sea Lions ✨🦭
After hours non-stop diving and playing, these sea puppies will always need time for rest.
With only ~12,000 individuals left in the wild, we were extremely lucky to have encountered a small colony just off the beach in Western Australia!
📸
Spiderman Shrimp 🕷️🕸️
These Whip Coral Shrimp (also known as Spiderman Shrimp) only grow up to 13mm long. 🥹
Their bodies mimic the tendrils of the whip corals on which they live. Look closely or you might miss them!

Diving in Cozumel 🌴 ✨
Here in Cozumel the coral reefs teeming with marine life! 🐠
The tropical fish, sharks, and rays make great subjects for wide-angle photography, and the vibrant coral reefs are full of macro creatures to find!
So whatever style of photography you enjoy, we highly recommend visiting this beautiful island in the Caribbean sea. 🌊

Macro Monday! 📸 ✨
Check out this cute little sexy shrimp! These shrimp are named for their unusual (and fabulous) body movements, and they seem to shake their b***y as they walk!
They are often found living in anemones, often in small groups. Often, we find ourselves looking in every anemone we find in case we can spot one! 😆
📷
The Peacock Mantis Shrimp is known for being one of the most photogenic undersea creatures, but it is also one of the most aggressive! With the hardest punch in the animal kingdom, reaching speeds of almost 100kms/hour, their punch can break a camera lens. (Luckily, this one didn't)!
Their eyes are equipped with up to 16 photoreceptors, allowing them to see in color, polarized vision, and UV light. Each eye can perceive depth and move independently, so they can really keep an eye on their target! 🦐💥🥊

“I discovered a place of utmost peace where all other thoughts disappear, leaving only you, a single breath, and the fleeting beauty shared between a wild animal or a woman dancing beneath the waves.”

Our new blog post features the Inspiring Fine Art Photographer & Freediver – Janaka Rodrigue 📸✨
“My photography journey spans 20 years, starting in fashion and advertising. Today, I consider myself an underwater artist, deeply passionate about capturing the ethereal beauty of women and marine life beneath the waves.”

Sea Slug Sunday!! ✨ ✨
Nudibranchs are some of our all-time favourite animals!
These crazy cool sea slugs have evolved from shelled ancestors, but have instead adapted bright colours to warn off their predators. 🥷
They come in all different colours, shapes and patterns!! Here are just a few we've spotted so far 🥹🫶

Discovering the hidden treasures of Palau's marine sanctuary. 🐠 🪸
Palau is often referred to as one of the seven wonders of the world, and we can understand why!! The nutrient rich waters support over 800 marine vertebrate species, including nearly 30 different marine mammals and 60 different species of sharks and rays.
Starting from January 1, 2020, Palau designated 80% of its national waters as a fully protected no-take zone, making it one of the largest marine sanctuaries in the world. 🌏
📷
Ornate Ghost Pipefish can be quite difficult to find, not only because they are rare, but because of their expert camouflage amongst the weeds and corals. 🪸
They can change colour very slowly, (over a period of about 36 hours) to match their surroundings. This means they can live in various different habitats, such as on the branches of sea fans, in floating weeds or feather stars. ⭐
Check out these different colour variations we've seen so far!

Have you ever dived in the Cenotes?
Freshwater diving is a great way to change it up if you're usually doing ocean dives.
We absolutely loved the experience, it was like swimming in an underwater forest! Plus, the rays of light dancing underwater made it seem all the more magical. They even added some free disco-lighting effects to our images! 😆 ☀️

Seahorses are some of our favourite animals to spot on a dive! ✨🥳🤿 They are not only super cute, but they can also move their curious eyes independently from one another. They use this skill to scan their surroundings for potential predators and prey. 👀 With their curled tails, seahorses often anchor themselves to a blade of seagrass and gently sway with the reeds in perfect camouflage.🌱 Have you ever seen one? #seahorse #macrophotography #macrounderwater #scubadiving #underwaterphotography #uwvideo
Glitter Squids, or Bigfin Reef Squids, have chromatophores and iridophores which allow them to change colours reflect the light!! ✨👽 They can even change the patterns they display, to help them communicate with other squids. These intelligence creatures are some of our favourite animals to encounter, especially on a night dive! 🦑✨🫶 📸 @tianioceani #glittersquid #octonation #bigfinreefsquid #reef #cephalopods #macrophotography #uwphotographer #underwaterphotography #underwatervideo
Shrimp orchestra 🎶✨ Check out this Sarasvati Anemone Shrimp, named after the Hindu goddess of music, knowledge, flowing water, art, abundance and wealth. 👑 The Sarasvati Anemone Shrimp is a species of cleaner shrimp. They are typically found in small groups and live in anemones, with whom they share a symbiotic relationship with. When a predator approaches, the shrimp retreats beneath the coral’s stinging tentacles. In return, they pay their rent by keeping the coral clean from parasites, algae and plankton.🪸 Not only do they clean their coral hosts, but they also wave their arms around to attract more customers! If a fish comes along to a cleaning station, these shrimp proceed to clean the creature’s mouths, gills, etc, feeding on the tiny organisms that may harm their hosts. #marinebiology #sarasvati #anemoneshrimp #macrodiving #macrounderwater #uwphotography #underwaterworld #ocean #reef #padi #scubadiver #uwphoto #marineconservation #sealife #divemalaysia #mabulisland #sonya7c #myocean #orcatorch #divetrips #divetravel

In Native American legends, turtles represent planet earth. 🌏🐢 And it makes sense, these are some of the longest living creatures on the planet! Turtles have been swimming around since the dinosaurs roamed the earth. They can grow up to 80 years old, and no matter how far they’ve travelled, will always return back to the same beach where they were born to lay their eggs. 🪺 These wise creatures seem to have an innate ability to return to their home, almost as if they have an in-built GPS system in their brains! What we learn from these creatures is to travel far, but to remember to visit home often. 🤗🏡 When we are often on the go, turtles reminds us to move gracefully throughout our lives, take our time, slow down and enjoy the moment we are in. 🫶 📸 @tianioceani #turtle #marinebiology #greenturtle #marinelife #uwphotography #underwaterworld #ocean #reef #padi #underwaterphoto #scubadiver #uwphoto #marineconservation #sealife #coralreef #divetrips #divetravel #marinediving #marineanimals
Two organisms, totally dissimilar, live together in harmony. Not only do they find ways to coexist, but they need each other to survive. 🪸🐠 Sometimes, without one species, the other will die. It is both scary and liberating to realise that we too, exist in symbiosis. To be human is to rely on the plants, animals, the people and the planet. We need food to survive, medicine when we’re sick, we also need our friends and family for love and support. We cannot exist alone. Like the anemone and the clownfish, we need each other to survive. 🫶🌏 📸 @tianioceani #marinebiology #divemalaysia #clownfish #marinelife #uwphotography #underwaterworld #ocean #reef #padi #underwaterphoto #scubadiver #uwphoto #marineconservation #sealife #coralreef #nemo #macrophotography #findingnemo #anemone #sonya7c #marinediving #marineanimals #divetrip #macrophotography #divetravel #malaysia
Macro Photography Tip!! ⭐️📸 When shooting macro, try shooting lots of different angles for a different and interesting perspective. Hawksbill Turtle 🐢⭐️ These turtles’ pointed beaks, which as the name suggests, resembles a bird of prey. Like underwater hawks, they use these beaks to pick up their prey tucked in the coral reef. Hawksbills are highly vulnerable to extinction. With only ~8000 estimated remaining in the wild, they are classified as critically endangered by the IUCN. 😢 We were lucky to find this one relaxing on the reef! 😌 📸 @tianidun #marinebiology #snorkelaustralia #diveaustralia #marinelife #uwphotography #underwaterworld #ocean #reef #marineconservation #turtle #coralreef #queensland #greatbarrierreef #macrophotography #tropicalnorthqueensland #hawksbillturtle #underwaterphotographyworkshop #turtlesofinstagram #underwaterphotographyguide #sonyunderwater #marinediving #marineanimals #abcmyvideo #bbcwildlife
