A 200 mile-long water trail through the heart of Alabama, the Cahaba Blueway is connecting communities and visitors to the beauty and biological wonder of the Cahaba River.

FYI - There will be no river access on River Trace Road at the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge on Friday, May 12th

ALERT: If you are planning to visit the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge on Friday, May 13th, please be aware that the road will be closed for repairs. We know the timing isn't great, but the material and equipment have not been available to do so earlier. We are very grateful to the USFWS Southeast Region and Carmeuse for the effort!

Congratulations to the Freshwater Land Trust and the City of Irondale on the official opening of the Moon River paddling access to the Cahaba River at U.S. Hwy. 78! Big thanks to the Alabama Power Foundation, The Daniel Foundation, and the Jefferson County Department of Health for their funding support and to Vulcan Materials Company for their in-kind support! Thanks, also to Jeh Jeh Pruitt WBRC for coverage of the event for Red Rock Tuesday on WBRC!

The Moon River access point is a designated Cahaba Blueway access point and we will unveil its new signs in the coming weeks...stay tuned!

The water is great in the Cahaba River right now, the redbuds are blooming, and the weather is perfect, so visit cahabablueway.org to find access points and other helpful information for planning your trip! This Saturday we celebrated the official opening of the Cahaba Blueway river access in Centerville along with new improvements to the Centerville Cahaba River Walk. On Saturday, July 6, we will celebrate the official opening of Centreville's new paddling access to the Cahaba River, along with new improvements to the Centreville Cahaba River Walk.

We had a great time with WBRC Fox 6's Bakari Savage this morning on Good Day Alabama at Trussville's Cahaba Blueway access point. This was Bakari's first time in a canoe, and he actually survived! We agreed to take him on his first real paddling trip on the river soon. Thanks, Bakari (and the incomparable cameraman, Cary!) for your help in getting the word out!

It was a beautiful day for our dedication of the Cahaba Blueway access sites in Dallas County at Old Cahawba Archaeological Park and Elam Holley , Sr. Park. Many thanks to our partners at the Alabama Historical Commission for hosting at Old Cahawba, and a special thank you to all those who attended!

Join us tomorrow at Helena Amphitheater Park at 10:00 AM for our site dedication there. All those present can get a free Cahaba Blueway tee shirt!

And we're off! We officially unveiled the first two signs yesterday at The Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge and Perry Lakes Park, and handed out some free t-shirts. Thanks to the Bibb Belles, Cahaba Medical Care, Friends of the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge, Judson College, Marion Academy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Cahaba Riverkeeper and Alabama Power and others for coming out!

Designated Cahaba Blueway access points have Cahaba Blueway-themed signs that provide all the information you need to know where you are and where you are going on the river. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be unveiling signs at many of the designated access points. The first dedication events will take place on April 8 at the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge at 10:00 AM and at Perry Lakes Park at 12:00 PM.

The public is invited to attend, and everyone there can pick up a free Cahaba Blueway tee shirt!
