"It's the thought that counts". No bud. No, it's not. How about not using disabled toilets as a storage cupboard?!

Share if you've ever had this happen to you...😡

[Image Description: Inside a Simpsons-style cafĂ©, a wheelchair user with crossed arms looks at an open “accessible toilet” door - revealing a cluttered storage room full of boxes, a mop, and random items. The cafĂ© owner, smiling sheepishly, says, “At least we have a toilet for disabled customers... right?!”]

Have you ever been called "brave" for just being alive? Welcome to the world of inspiration p**n! This Simpsons-style image pokes fun at how non-disabled people can sometimes go over the top, and shower disabled folks with praise for simply living their lives. Y’know, normal stuff like going to work, shopping, or even just existing
Well, guess what? We don’t need applause; we just need equality.

[Image Description: A cartoon in the style of The Simpsons shows a man in a wheelchair sitting with a neutral expression. He is flanked by two animated characters offering exaggerated praise. On the left, a smiling woman gestures enthusiastically with a speech bubble that reads, “You’re so brave!” On the right, a tall man stands proudly with a speech bubble saying, “You’re such an inspiration!” The background is a simple light blue, keeping the focus on the characters’ exaggerated reactions.]

🇬🇧: This morning, my family and I participated in an inclusive fun run here in Sapiranga, Brazil. It was wonderful to finally feel part of something bigger and find a sense of community along the way. Big thanks to for their amazing specialized chairs!

We covered about 2.5km, with 6-year-old AmĂ©lia leading us with a mix of quick sprints and “Anthony, please carry me” requests. The only downside? The traffic police didn’t keep the road closed throughout the run, forcing me onto inaccessible pavements, and AmĂ©lia (who is autistic) almost got hit by a taxi! Despite the traffic issues, it was a great morning overall!

[Picture 2: People walking, jogging, and rolling on the road during the fun run.]

Hey guys! You may have spotted the following article in our newsletter last month, but if not, I highly recommend checking out this informative piece on the accessibility in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia - situated to the northeast of Venice.

I have had the pleasure of visiting Trieste - the capital of the region - on more than one occasion and can say with certainty that it is a magical part of the world to explore.

Great examples of inclusion here at PUCRS Science and Technology Museum, with descriptions available in braille. This needs to be the norm everywhere, wouldn’t you say?

Hey, !

Some of you who are subscribed to the newsletter may have already seen this post, however, for those who are not, I recently wrote a blog about my trip to FlorianĂłpolis and how mishap after mishap, has slowly changed my opinion on how it is that I like to travel. Gone are the days of winging it and figuring things out after I've arrived.

Traveling with a disability is challenging, as many of you guys will be all too aware of. But I guess I'm only just coming to terms with the reality of it all now that I'm in my 30s and not quite as mobile as I once was!

What do you struggle with the most when traveling? And how much planning do you tend to do before setting off?

From hellish traffic to access complications due to overcrowding, this trip to the capital of Santa Catarina really made us rethink how we travel as a family with a wheelchair user!
