'Translations' is a three-act play written in 1980 by Irish playwright Brian Friel. Brian Patrick Friel (9 January 1929 – 2 October 2015) was an Irish dramatist, short story writer and founder of the Field Day Theatre Company.
'Translations' is set in Baile Beag (Ballybeg), a Donegal village in 19th century agricultural Ireland. It was first performed at the Guildhall, Derry, Northern Ireland, on Tuesday, 23 September 1980.

Oscar Wilde's statue is at the northwest corner of the Park, across the street from nr.1 Merrion Square. It was commissioned in 1997 by the Guinness Ireland Group and it looks straight out at Wilde's boyhood home. Wilde was born in 21 Westland Row and moved to 1, Merrion Square in 1855.

The Derry Photo Archive is a project which explores the changes in the city of Derry due to the impact of the political conflict and the changes in the city's historic architecture. The website contains two galleries which show how some streets and buildings have changed beyond recognition whilst others retain their original features and character. The second gallery reflects the countless street confrontations, explosions and military occupation of the past. It gives just a taste of what things were like and reminds us of how far Derry has come as a result of the successful peace process.

On the night in Dublin on the Liffey River, the bridge dedicated to Sean O ' Casey (1880-1964), famous playwright connected to the Irish nationalist cause is laid. The bridge is 100 meters long and was inaugurated in 2005. In the foreground is the sailboat 'Jeanie Johnson', a faithful replica of the ship that carried over 2500 Irish immigrants to America in the middle of the Eighties.

The Guildhall is a neo-gothic style building and it is located outside the city walls and close to the Peace Bridge and the Foyle river. It was the staging area of the US President Bill Clinton's speech on November 1995. The square in front of the Guildhall is Derry's main square.
