Hello All,
It has been way to long since I have been on this page. I have worked for an investment firm doing various commercial projects including office buildings, apartment conversions, and restaurants. They had asked me to work exclusively for them, then came the pandemic and now has come the time to go back to my basics, and do what I have done for the past 45 years and know the best is yet to come. First day out for Real work, it is amazing the devastation. so much debris on side of the roads in flooded subdivisions. I have one piece of advice, get the wet out as fast as possible, the house dries out the fastest that way. Run as many fans as possible, keep the air moving and A/C running if possible to remove humidity. It works wonders. I know of two homes with sheetrock removed has reduced moisture content by 75% in the stud wall lumber in 4 days. That reduction was measured from 89.9% to less that 22% with electronic testing device and temperature/ humidity reader, with minimum and max memory. A/C setting was 72%. I am glad to share my knowledge if you, family, or friend would like to discuss options. I believe that many home owners are capable of the responsibility of the demolition remediation without the cost, especially if volunteers are available.

I have an issue to speak to for those who are doing their own remediation.

I was told by a homeowner who was asking advice for his remediation protocol and said he was told to use 50%bleach to 50% water for a anti-microbial wash. THAT IS TOO STRONG AND THE OFF GASSING OF THE CLORINE MAY HARM YOUR LUNGS. I trained in Indoor air quality after Allison and the suggestion was a 10% bleach and 90% water. Please correct me if I am wrong, and I am sure there are fema guidlines on line. Thanks for your time listening.

Water in my bedroom led to opening up the walls to find a concealed problem that has rotted wood inside the walls, wet the insulation, mold on the drywall, and only found out about it because of a 3 x 5 damp spot in the carpet after the storm. I am lucky that my issues are very small compared to those who have been flooded. I am drying out now waiting on the insurance adjuster, so to anyone in need, Please feel free to contact me at 281-846-8220.

Harvey, I am glad you are gone. I saw blue sky today, what a relief. I wish all was over, but hard work starts now. I have removed my wood floor and carpet that were soaked, tomorrow the bedroom carpet and drywall from leak. I will be ready to go out and help after that.
