Norman Maclean is one of the most well known authors to come out of Montana, and certainly one of the most famous fly fishing authors ever. Wheatgrass Books & Gifts is hosting a reading of a newly released biography of Maclean by author Rebecca McCarthy on Thursday, September 5th at 6pm. Her unique perspective of Maclean, not only as the author we know him as, but as a personal friend, shines through in her book. If you’re a fan of A River Runs Through It, or literature as a whole, don’t miss it!

We're bringing the power this week! We've got savory green lentils, roasted local beets, .mt bok choy and MT foraged huckleberry slaw, roasted .of.the.moon.farm zucchini, local roasted carrots, greens, quinoa and a really freaking delicious miso strawberry vinaigrette made from some infused vinegar I made earlier in the summer with strawberries. As always, add shredded chicken for an extra power boost. 11-3 on B and Lewis!

LGC will host the Labor Day Scramble today, kicking off at 10:00am. The course will be closed during the tournament, but the range, evening tee times, pro shop, simulator, and bar will all still be open! ⛳️

Happy Labor Day! It's going to be a warm and smokey day but there's plenty of fun to be had! The Depot Museum is open, many galleries and shops Downtown are open and most restaurants and bars are too!

Open burning is closed today in all Park County fire districts due to a Red Flag Warning. Red Flag Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service when high temperatures, high winds and low humidities combine to create dangerous conditions for fire. Open burning is for reducing fuels and only applies to fires over 4 feet in diameter requiring a burn permit. While campfires (under 4') are permitted, take extra care as you are responsible for any fires you start.

We will be open for our regular hours this week! Also, we will officially be closing for the season on September 12th (due to rapidly approaching due date 😵‍💫🍼!!!). We are celebrating with a couple of "Greatest Hits" menus--bringing back our 2 most popular entrees of the summer (any guesses??). We'll also have the Tiny Art Shop selection on sale, hats on sale and more! Come on down to B and Lewis for lunch and bring your smiles, your dogs, and your pearls of parenting wisdom! “The Dance of Smoke and Light”

This is a single frame from one of the timelapses I shot last night during a somewhat unexpected northern lights display. I knew there was a small chance of the lights making a showing, but did not expect anything like what happened.

If you look carefully, you can see brown smoke from distant wildfires creating a feathery horizontal line through the center of the image. The smoke is more evident in the timelapse that this frame was taken from.

I’ve noticed that smoky skies make the aurora appear more red and yellow, rather than magenta and green. That’s when I’m using the same white balance for both scenarios.
