Sharing the landscape with bison requires a sense of awareness more than anything else. Bison do not pose a threat to people unless you get too close. Many bison-related injuries in parks result from people approaching them to take a picture or when people ask them โ€œWhat did the buffalo say when his son left for college?โ€ Itโ€™s โ€œbison.โ€

Instead, stay in your vehicle or if on foot, maintain a safe distance. Use a camera with a telephoto lens to take photos from more than 25 yards away. Also, if the bison happens to park itself in an actual parking spot, honking will only result in you both sitting there until you decide to leave.

The crown jewel of the Livingston Bar and Grille? Our stunning backbar, a true piece of history. Hand-carved in France from African mahogany in the late 1800s, it made its debut at the 1904 St. Louis Worldโ€™s Fair before journeying to Livingstonโ€”by boat up the Missouri River, then by ox cart! Once painted white, it was lovingly restored by the owners of the NP Connection to its original splendor. A true testament to the charm and stories of the old days.
