The sunny island of Usedom is living up to its reputation at the moment and the forecast for the next few days couldn't be better. Pack your towels, buckets and spades and off you go to the beach - p.s. don't forget your picnic :-D!

This weekend the island of Usedom will be welcoming guests from across the globe to the world's largest beach volleyball tournament in Karlshagen. 1000 players will battle it out on nearly 90 courts to win the Usedom Beach Cup 2012. There's also a number of beach parties for those of you who get knocked out or for the crowds. Come along and you'll be amazed at the size of things :-D! The sunny island of Usedom is going crazy about herrings from the 3rd to the 31st March 2012 at the 16th Usedom Herring Weeks. A number of events are planned to mark the importance of this Baltic fish for the island (one of the resorts - Heringsdorf - is even named after the underwater friend) - starting with the 5th Usedom Herring Gala on the 3rd in Strandhotel Seerose in Kölpinsee and ending with the traditional herring festival in the Baltic seaside resort of Koserow on the 31st. Do you like herrings? Will you be coming to visit for the festivities?
