As you make your way through the city, don't forget to pop into Lincoln's 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥.

Dating back to 1520, this beautiful Tudor building sits above the Stonebow on the High Street. The main purpose of the Guildhall is to host city council meetings and events, however, it also houses numerous pieces of regalia, including the sword of Richard II, the Mayor’s Chains of Office and a fantastic array of charters.

As part of the Festival of History, you can enjoy a guided tour around Lincoln's Historic Guildhall on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May. This fascinating tour will also include a visit to the 4th century Postern Gate on Bank Street. Hidden underground, this incredible piece of Roman architecture is an absolute must-see!

Just a stone's throw from the Colosseum Quarter, you will find the 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩'𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞.

Standing almost in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral, this incredible building was once the administrative centre of the largest diocese in medieval England, which stretched from the Humber to the Thames.

Its original architecture reflected enormous power and wealth, and it was among the most important buildings in the country.

Bishop's Palace will be open to visitors for the duration of the festival, and on Monday 6 May, Lincoln Mystery Plays will be performing in the beautiful grounds.

There will be three performances taking place throughout the day, accompanied by some live medieval music (normal admission fees apply).

We had a lovely stroll round the shops by the Cathedral today, bought some tasty treats and some housewares too. It’s definitely worth visiting when you’re staying at one of our lovely homes, just be prepared for the long walk up the hill named “Steep Hill”.
