TIP: If you're at Prague Castle. There's a permanent exhibition called the "Story of Prague" which costs CZK140 per ticket. It's better to look for the "Restoration of Prague Castle" exhibition as that ticket only costs CZK100 AND you get entry the the Story of Prague included.

New Tours for 2018. I've been listening to feedback from clients and based on that I've decided to run two more tours. Czech Pubs and Tapas will be available after lunch as a scheduled tour or any time as a private tour. World War Two in Prague will mostly be a 9am weekday scheduled tour or can be booked privately. Whenever I'm in the area I stop at the Church of Our Lady Victorious to see what the Infant Jesus is wearing (colour depends on a religious calendar). I cover this place on private tours of the Lesser Town.

As much care as they take when installing the Prague Christmas tree, when it comes to taking it down it's brutal stuff. Takes about an hour to cut it all up, put into the container and sweep up.

As it is "3 kings" today this was the last tour of the Christmas season. Australians on a private tour of the Old Town and Jewish Quarter. Fun showing clients around and giving tips on using the markets. Not too much snow and above average temperature. Bye bye Xmas tree and markets until November.

You never know what to expect on a tour especially if it's private. Before New Year on one tour I loaned my gloves to a client who had forgotten his and we made a diversion to a Lahudky (Delicatessen) so I could order a selection of sausage and cheese for them to eat later at their apartment. So it's not just tourist sites and history.

One of the things I have explained to tour clients this season is that Czechs usually eat fish at lunch on December 24th so they can see the golden pig in the evening. Usually the fish is prepared at the stall but people still take a live carp back to their apartments and keep it in the bath.

There are places that have more significance on certain days. For example today is the sixth anniversary of the death of President Vaclav Havel so if you are passing Havel's Place in the Lesser Town and you see flowers, you'll know why. In response to tour feedback and to give clients more choice, the Prague City Walking Tour now includes exploring Prague Castle but will no longer include the Jewish Quarter. This will be covered on the existing Old Town and Jewish Quarter (Hidden Secrets) Tour. So clients that enjoy one of the tours can now experience the other and there's no overlap. https://www.livingpraguetours.com.

At this time of year any tour after 2pm will finish in the dark but there's always that hour just after dusk when the sky still has a little light.

Due to the damage to trees done by the strong winds over the last 48 hours, Prague Castle has closed the Imperial Gardens and the Stag Moat both today and tomorrow. Entry to the Castle itself is not affected. You'll always find any entry restrictions published on the Prague Castle official website https://www.hrad.cz/en/prague-castle-for-visitors
