What are your thoughts?
I've been missing travel and looking for shows with unique travel experiences. The one I've been watching is called The Kindness Diaries. The storyline is a guy (who seems financially well off in normal life) is traveling literally around the world on his motorcycle, Kindness One. He is not to use money, but to rely 100% on the kindness of others. No money for food, drink, lodging, gas, repairs, clothes, etc. He spends nearly every day asking strangers for these items, sometimes he works for it (on farms, cooking, on a shipping container ship, etc).
On occasion, when he meets someone who has really met him with kindness above and beyond and that could use a little help themselves, after they have helped him, he surprises them with news that he and his crew are going to buy or pay for something that will be life-changing for their family (education for kids, a house and college for a homeless man, a rickshaw for a man who supports his family with it, etc).
I have to admit, I've shed some tears while watching his journey. His travel is very interesting to me, as it sits very close to how I had imagined living my life at some point. Not quite where I am begging people for stuff, but very fluid and wherever the wind blows me. I would want to spend more time in each place than he is doing to learn the culture, way of life, make connections, etc. My hubby says he'd even be interested in similar, but wants to have his own money to eat when he wants and a place to sleep without having to ask strangers, lol. I think there has to be a happy medium of Leon's traveling in the show and what I have always pictured because his way is forcing conversations to happen that never would occur organically. There must be a way to get a little of both?
Have you seen this show? What are your thoughts?
