The MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History is one of the most interesting buildings in Little Rock. From it's early beginning to modern day, it continues to be one of Little Rock's prized structures. The Paranormal EXPO is held there Halloween weekend and is always successful and very popular. It is known to be a tad bit "haunted" and we take groups throughout the interior at night to add a bit of excitement to those who participate. Perhaps, you and some of your friends would like to join us one cold winter night as we walk among the hallways only stopping to talk to the resident ghosts. Remember the names Sarge and Lena...........

Last Saturday night, we had a Tour for several people with the FEMA group who are in our city, and surrounding area, helping the victims of the catastrophic tornado that hit our state months ago. Aside from the heat and bugs, it was a pretty eventful experience. John Rains, our Sexton, demonstrated the use of dowsing rods which are used to communicate with the Spirits that are buried here at Oakland and Fraternal Cemetery. We like to have anyone wanting to use them have that experience. One can feel the movement by the Spirit and it’s fascinating …when asking a “yes” or “no” question…. the Spirit will respond. We were thrilled to have this group visit us and I’m amazed that they come from all over the country to help our local people rebuild their lives. Thank all of you for coming and come back!
A young man was using the rods talking to someone who appeared to know him. We were at the grave of Captain Sam Huston, a riverboat captain who was shot and killed near Palarm Creek during the Brooks Baxter War in Little Rock......

The Tour will highlight the importance of the building through its many years and discuss who might be “occupying” it today. It has a rich history on many levels. Bring your friends and join us on Saturday night, March 4, at 6:30pm. The price is $30 per person and we are taking reservations now. If you have any questions place call me at 501-681-3857 Linda Howell, Owner of Haunted Tours of Little Rock and Author of “Haunted Little Rock”.

One of my favorite pictures taken on the Haunted Tours of Little Rock years ago. The woman in the cover page photo is the Spirit of Lena and I only found out recently her name. This picture has haunted me for years because it was taken years ago in the upstairs landing near the bathroom at the MacArthur Museum. It's her reflection on the mirror that you are seeing. She was on the landing with the tour group but we didn't know she was there of course at the time. It wasn't until recently that I met her Great Great Granddaughter who had a picture of her and then the mystery became a reality. Lena's husband was stationed at the Arsenal after the Civil War when it had been converted into 4 apartments, one of which they lived in and Douglas MacArthur's family lived there too. ........just at different times. Oh, her husband is "Sarge" , the Spirit paranormal investigators have talked to for years........So cool.

Back by popular demand, the Oakland & Fraternal Historic Cemetery Park is once again starting their Lantern Light Tours. The Tour for this year will take place on Saturday night October 15th inside the Cemetery’s North Gate Section. We are the largest Municipal cemetery in the State with 63 acres of rolling hills and valleys. Previous Tours took place near the front gate but this year we will take you deeper inside… toward the back of the cemetery near the North Gate. We will walk along the grassy pathways and visit the people buried in this area. We can’t rule out a visit by the residents, as they do make appearances occasionally. The picture below was taken by our Sexton of a Civil War soldier he thought to be a re-enactor walking down the road. He took this picture of the soldier right before he dissipated!

Another experience took place while working on the back side of the Cemetery where the Old Pine Bluff highway once came through. It was a bright day and he heard the crunching of gravel on the dirt road. He turned to see a mule pulling a buckboard with 2 adults and two children on board. The unusual thing about it was he could only see the top of the mule and buckboard with the people. He has lots of stories of his experiences with the Spirits and I’m sure if we ask him, he’ll be happy to share. In fact, one of our stops will be a grave he was cleaning one day and the woman buried there told him in no uncertain words to “stop that”. Her grave is on the tour and only one side of her stone is cleaned ….he never went back! Our Sexton John uses dowsing rods to find bodies that are buried but are not in a marked grave. When prepping for a funeral, a space has to be dug for the burial ….he has many stories to tell about his experiences. You too will have a chance to use the rods to see how they work. Come join us and bring your family and friends. The price for this experience is $20 per person …..Call Linda Howell (501) 681-3857 for information and reservations.

A Night At The Empresss

GOOD MORNING FACEBOOK FRIENDS OF HAUNTED TOURS OF LITTLE ROCK.

At last……I’m going to do something I’ve always wanted to do and going on this adventure in a few weeks. The Empress of Little Rock B&B is a site on our Haunted Evening Tour and they invite our group to come inside and visit the “card room” in the attic. Those who have taken the tour know how exciting this is and appreciate a chance to see inside this beautifully restored Victorian Mansion…..even the rafters in the attic. Many have returned to spend the night after the tour.

My “adventure” is spending the night in the room under the “card room” above. Oh my, will I experience “things” as others have? If so, you’ll be the first to hear about it and my story will add another tale to tell on tour night. Our cover photo of the Empress shows this room and look at all the orbs outside the window and the house …mercy me. Am I ready for this? After nine years of saying, I think I can …..I’m going for it.
