π North Stradbroke Island
We always have a soft spot for Straddie and it's so close to home so there was no better place to spend our last week on the road. It was meant to rain all week and we almost cancelled. So glad we didn't cause we had cracking weather and spent the week swimming and relaxing. Bit surreal to be finishing life on the road, but we're ready to get home and start saving for another adventure.
π Illaroo
Had a few nights at Illaroo Xampground and day tripped to the surrounding towns like Wooli. We really love northern NSW and is normally our "go-to" area to camp when camping at home.
π Urunga Boardwalk
After we left Bellingen, we stopped into Urunga to walk along the board walk and check out the markets. Was such a beautiful little town. Water was crystal clear. Could quite happily come back to stay.
π Bellingen
We had a few nights at Bellingen and checked out the Waterfall Way which was really beautiful. Also did a rainforest walk and walked around the town which had a real chilled hinterland vibe.
π Port Macquarie
We've driven past Port Macquarie so many times and finally stopped to stay. Wish we hadve done it sooner! It's a hidden gem! So many beautiful beaches. We also checked out the koala hospital when a storm hit, we went to an awesome indoor rock climbing and laser tag centre which the kids absolutley loved.
π Yamba - Blue Dolphin Holiday Resort
Had a few nights at Yamba. Spent endless hours in the pool and swim up bar. The kids spent all day on the waterslides, rock climbing and pump track. Was Halloween while we were here so we decorated outside the van and the kids went trick or treating around the caravan park. We made Halloween food for dinner too which the kids thought was cool. Definitely a place we need to come back to for holidays.
We have officially completed a lap around Australia! Not time to go home just yet. Still have around a month to go but we're so excited we completed the lap. Our hearts and memory banks are full π
π Brooms Head
We celebrated 12 months on the road by going back to where it all started! Luke and I used to camp here all the time pre-kids and this was the first place we stopped when we started the trip so we couldn't drive past without staying.
While we were home for a few days, we checked out the expo at Brisbane which was great! Apparently there's caravans there, all we saw was Bluey, rock climbing, balloon animals and all things kids π€ π
π Sunshine Coast
We had a week around the Sunshine Coast visiting family and filling our love tanks. Was a bit surreal being back in my old stomping ground after being in the unknown for a year!
π Bundaberg Rum Factory
While driving past, we went to the Bundaberg Rum Factory for a tour and tasting. The whole process was really interesting and we ended up buying a few liquors to take home for Christmas. Definitely worth doing the tour if you're into Rum and you're in the area.
π LARC tour
We went on the LARC tour at 1770 for a bit of fun, was awesome being able to drive straight into the water and out again! The tour guide was really informative and made it fun.
π Agnes Waters / 1770
We could quite easily settle here. Such an amazing and chilled out vibe. We spent a lot of time at the beach, did the LARC boat, had sunset dinner and drinks with friends and walked through the paperback trees. Could very easily of spent a week here.
π 9 Mile Beach Yeppoon
We were trying to get to 5 Rocks Beach but couldn't find how to get there π ended up having the best 4wding adventure getting to 9 Mile Beach though with and though! So nice hitting the beach again!
π Yeppoon
Didn't get near enough photos at Yeppoon. Visited our travelling friends at the Lagoon and went out for lunch which was really nice! Hired carts at the caravan park to use up some of our gday rewards which the kids though was fun (but hard work apparently π) Didn't know what to expect from Yeppoon but was so much nicer than we thought it was going to be! Quiet but beachy.

π Airlie Beach
We decided not to stay at Airlie Beach as we've been lots of times before so day tripped it there and decided on the way we'd do a half day cruise to Whitehaven π so we were only there a couple of hours but worth a mention because of its beauty
π Whitehaven Beach
What an absolute beauty of a beach. Doesn't have anything on WA beaches but it gave us our fix π had such a good day cruising out here then hanging on the beach.
π Bowen
We had a nice couple of days at Bowen. Was so good being able to swim in the ocean and see sunsets over the water again!
π Barra Fun Park Townsville
We had an early family Christmas at Barra Fun Park and mum put on a feast! Was such a good day out and melted my heart seeing the kids have such a good time with their cousins. I'm beyond proud of how kind and caring my neices and nephews are and am so bloody proud of them the way the helped all the smaller kids get up on all the bigger inflatables and never once left them behind.
Thanks for such a good day out mum!
π Rock Pool The Strand Townsville
Bit behind in photos because we were busy enjoying a week with family in Townsville.
We had a few spare hours at some point and hit up the rock pools on the strand which was so super nice and refreshing. Nothing soothes the soul like swimming in salt water! Finished it off with some icecream at Gellatisimo before catching up with other travelling friends for a beer (didn't get any pics there!)
π Etty Bay
Was so good to be able to swim in the ocean again! Kids and Luke had a ball! We finally got to see a Cassowary which we were stoked about, was starting to think they didn't exist!
π Babinda Boulders
Had a quick stop in at Babinda Boulders on the way past. Was was freezing so just checked it out from the lookout. Really beautiful water holes!
π Cairns Coconut Resort
We didn't get near enough time here. We only got 2 out of our 5 nights booked as we were stuck in Cooktown with car troubles but were all still so grateful we got the 2 days.
We had a "yes day" for the kids and they didn't stop alllllll day and crashed in less than 10 mins before 8.00pm!
Lots to do for the kids so we highly recommend coming here, well worth the $$.
π Riverbend Tours Cooktown
We did the Riverbend Sunset Boat Cruise as a special treat for Luke's birthday and it was really good! Nick the Skipper was really informative and the nibble platter was delicious! Even with a little bit of wind, Nick did a great job tucking us away in the mangroves so we didn't get hit with it. Was a big hit for all of us!
π Cooktown Botanical Gardens
We're running out of things to do in Cooktown so had a walk through the botanical Gardens and to Finch Bay which was lovely.
We've done soooooo much walking while we haven't had the car, we've almost broken the kids π₯΄
We're well and truly making the best out of a bad situation and living it up in a cabin at while the springs are getting fixed in our car.After 10 months in a caravan, the flushing toilets, glass plates & cups, no thongs in the shower and endless water in the tap has been luxurious!
As nice as its been, we're looking forward to being back on the road next week sometime.
π Lions Den
We were so excited to get to the infamous Lions Den! We stayed at the farm stay next door which we highly recommend. As we were there on a Sunday night, we couldn't go past getting the $20 roast dinner. It was so delicious, definitely recommend getting if you're there on a Sunday π

π Cooktown
We had 4 nights at Cooktown cleaning up after the Cape. Wasn't the nicest weather while here so spent most of the time (when not cleaning!) at the playground, splash park and just wondering around reading about James Cooks arrival here. Such a beautiful town and everyone was so friendly. Highly recommend Top Pub for dinner and beer, the owner was so chatty and had a fun vibe while we were there and the power went out in town.

π Elim Beach
We day tripped to Elim Beach from Cooktown as it was too windy to stay. We drove up the challenging drive to South Cape Bedford which was incredible! Such a steep drive up and hair raising turnaround but the view was well worth it
