This is my artistic effort to paint a cup in Debruta, which is the ceramics capital of Umbria.

After my meagre efforts, I now appreciate greatly the skill levels on some of the pieces they had created. I wish to thank the skilled artists who made this such an enjoyable morning. The finished article will be posted next as it has now returned after firing.
Highly recommended this for individuals, couples or families.

Driving through Spain we stopped for coffee at Torija, which is just north of Madrid. Spectacular castle which we admired while sipping a poor coffee at the cafe in the plaza. Spain has a spectacular history with fortified castles sprinkled throughout. However,there is no excuse for poor coffee!

In the lovely village of Norcia, is the Relais chateaux hotel, Palazzo Seneca. While its an intimate hotel, they have two restaurants, and one is Vespasia, which has a Michelin star. Sorry for the poor photos, but don't underestimate the food. It was exceptional! The flavours just explode on your tongue. The reduction which covers the beef is glossy and rich and I wish I could make this. Any help appreciated!

I'm going to post quite a few images of this truffle hunting excursion, because it was so much more than I expected! First are the wonderful talented dogs, Otto and Lulu, who were the stars of the show. I cantpraise them enough, especially as my dogs main skill is to bring a sock. They are so enthusiastic when sniffing out a truffle, and happily give it up for a treat! The windows of the Duomo were thin slices of agate which was a stunning effect, plus this huge intricately carved font. Orvieto has history back to the Etruscans - 800BC, if I remembered that correctly!
