Did you know that Mallorca has a whopping 25 Blue Flag beaches?
The Blue Flag is a globally recognised symbol of quality and is one of the most well-known environmental symbols worldwide. Blue flags are awarded by the independent organisation, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) . The organisation evaluates beaches every year and monitors their facilities and cleanliness. It is no mean feat to be awarded a blue flag as along with excellent quality of bathing water, there are over 32 criteria to comply with, including cleanliness, safety, information for beach users, environmental education and protection of the coastal environment.
One of the island's best beaches that makes the grade is the lovely Es Trenc (seen here!). Four kilometres of Caribbean blue waters and soft white sand backed by rolling dunes and a protected natural park.
