“We've seen larger falls in every cardinal direction, and yet, we romanticise this one. The boreal forest that blankets the north is vast yet subtle. This elevates drastic topography like falls, cliffs and outcrops to an item of reverence that I haven't experienced anywhere else. The remoteness of these areas creates the need for a pilgrimage, further elevating their spiritual significance. I've heard non religious people refer to natural areas as their church, their focus of spirituality. I reflected on this sentiment a lot as I made my journey by ski and pole on Christmas day.”
