Day 3

Naxos, Greece

This is the island you go to when you want to get away from it all… it’s quaint, friendly, organic, and full of history.
Once we arrived off the ferry the first stop was at a local pottery workshop. Next was a private guided tour of the Halki Village with olive oil tastings and a visit to the Vallindras Distillery to taste Kitron. After a full day of exploring we checked into a small elegant beachside hotel called Liana Beach Hotel & Spa. Did I mention that you will not see a cruise ship in Naxos?

Greece continued…

Day 2
Mykonos

We took the ferry from Athens to Mykonos where we met a private guide. She took us to various parts of the island with beautiful views of the other Greek islands. Lunch was spent at an olive farm where we tasted three types of olive oil. Next was a tour of the town. Mykonos is known for its nightlife and some of the best beaches in Greece. Most families own a chapel near their residence. If a chapel has a blue roof then the family worked for the sea ( sailors ), if it has a red roof then the family worked for agriculture ( farm ), and if it had a white roof the family is not from Mykonos. Finally, we arrived at our hotel, the Myconian Ambassador, which is absolutely beautiful!! Dinner was incredible as anyone would expect from a Relais & Chateaux property.

I just returned from an immersive educational week in Greece… follow along on my journey !!

Day 1 Athens

We started our day with a early morning private tour of the Acropolis Archeological Site. Early mornings are cooler and less crowded. Next we went on a private walking tour of Plaka. We stopped in a local coffee shop and I had my first Cappacino Freddo. It’s a delicious iced local coffee drink. Lunch was extravagant and delicious at the 5 star MGallery hotel near the Capital Centre Athens. Following lunch was a private drive around Athens’ city center and other amazing sites.

The Monteverde rainforest area, which comprises ten towns with 8,000 people, is situated on the Continental Divide at an elevation of 5,600 feet. A walk through a Costa Rica Monteverde cloud forest reveals a lush green garden of mosses, ferns, flowers and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree. Clouds drift in and settle among the slopes, giving the continuous moisture required for such exuberant plant growth. Dangling roots and vines sweep across the trails. The air is rich with the sounds of birds and the occasional scurrying of small mammals on the forest floor. In the distance a howler monkey roars.
