BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS SWITCH-ON HEADLINER - ELLA HENDERSON

We are excited to announce that award-winning singer-songwriter Ella Henderson is to headline the Blackpool Illuminations Switch-On celebrations on Friday 30 August in association with Hits Radio! ✨

Ella will perform an extended set from her extensive catalogue of hits. Ella’s music career started as a contestant in The X-Factor before she went on to release her debut album Chapter One, which topped the UK albums chart and spawned several chart successes including the huge hit single, Ghost, as well as Glow and Yours. Three times Brit-nominated Ella has ten Top 10 singles to her name.

The LGBTQ+ bar and hotel owners on Lord Street Blackpool are uniting on 1st August to help raise funds for the two children injured in the recent tragic house fire in Blackpool.

Blackpool named most popular staycation destination in UK 🥇

Blackpool has been crowned the most popular destination for a staycation in the UK, with 135,000 monthly searches for hotels in the area – the highest of all locations analysed. The seaside resort is also very popular on TikTok, with 980.8 million hashtag views on the platform meaning there are plenty of picturesque moments to capture this spring, and it offers the second cheapest accommodation prices of all destinations analysed, with a one-night stay averaging £72.68.

Blackpool has been a much-loved summer holiday destination among Brits for years, and there’s plenty to keep visitors entertained all year round too.

🌈 Be Who You Want To Be Area 🌈

Multi-coloured rainbow graphics have been installed on two zebra crossings underneath the traditional white stripe, leading the way as the first step in a number of planned improvements to develop a ‘Be Who You Want To Be’ area in Blackpool town centre.

Contractors Uni-Play worked through the night to bring the new graphics to life, brightening up the area as a celebration of the long established LGBTQ+ history and diversity of the area.

The junction of Dickson Road and Springfield Road will see also see a vibrant makeover, with rainbow crossings in the colours of the Progress flag due to be installed on the road at the four-way junction this evening, weather dependent.

The crossing areas on the road will be adorned with rainbow designs to help guide pedestrians safely across the busy road junction, along with the use of existing safety measures including tactile paving surfaces, crossing control push buttons and tactile cones on the crossing control boxes.
