The Pasticciotto Leccese has a long history behind it. Born as a simple makeshift dessert, obtained from what the fantasy suggested, back in 1475, to the Galtina pastry chef, Nicola Ascalone. It is said that on the occasion of the celebrations in honor of St. Paul, the Patron Saint of Galatina, Ascalone did not know what sweet to do for the many pilgrims who came for the party. Finding pastry leftovers with shortcrust pastry and simple custard, he had the idea of covering oval-shaped molds with pastry, pour in some cream and cover them with another layer of pastry. He baked the cakes in the oven and offered them to the pilgrims, who were ecstatic, renaming them Pasticciotti Leccesi.

Today our ITALY CULINARY GRANDTOUR brings you to know another gem of Puglia, the city of Monopoli, located 43 kilometers south of Bari, its charming historic center of high-medieval origin, overlooking the sea surrounded by high walls. Inside, many churches and prestigious palaces follow one after the other.

OUR STORY

Born from the meeting of two professionals: Carlo Spada - with a long experience as manager of food & wine marketing and creator of the Albergo Diffuso and Cooking School Nenà al Borgo Castello and Francesca Cervinara - Professional Personal Chef with Salentine blood mixed with the great Roman and Latium gastronomic experience.

Together we decided to combine our passion for hospitality and love for Italian cuisine in an "on the road" travel story, to discover the Great Treasures and Tastes of Italy aimed at making people know and appreciate, in particular, the beauties of roman countryside and Lazio, together with those of Salento and Puglia.

Our philosophy is based on the improvement of your knowledge of wines, extra virgin olive oil and food during your cooking and tasting holidays.
