My latest post on þingvellir is up! We had a great hike there!

By the time we finished lunch on the second day of our trip, we were ready to get out of the city and start seeing the natural beauty of Iceland. Reykjavík is a great city, but we weren’t in Iceland to hang out in a city. My original plan was to do the Golden Circle […]

Going to Iceland? I just posted our reviews of all the lodgings we used during our Ring Road adventure. From a women's prison to a milk factory to a luxurious suite in the north, the places we stayed were all unique.

Welcome back to my Iceland series. In this post, let’s focus on where to stay. In Iceland, you’ve got multiple options from camping to luxury hotel rooms. During my initial phase of planning, we considered renting a camper van and just camping our way around the Ring Road. I still love this idea...

We've started putting up dash cam video of our trip. If you're into slow tv, or just want to see what driving in Iceland is like, check it out :)

Except for a few seconds of test footage, this is the drive from The Bridge Between Continents and our first night's hotel in Reykjavík. See our site https:/...

If you're in Boston, look for Mr. Pink!

What's up with the pink people sitting on a rooftop, wedged between buildings, peering into a window and hiding around other Boston landmarks?

I'm working on the blog and wanted to share our first highlight post on Bitra Guesthouse in Selfoss, Iceland. The hosts were so sweet, and if you know me you know I have mobility issues. They really went above and beyond helping us get into our room, showing us around, and making us feel part of the family during our whole stay. If you're going to be in Selfoss, read my blog and check them out!

What kind of places do you enjoy staying when you travel? The community of a hostel, the privacy of an entire home, the local feel of a family owned guesthouse, or the luxury of a high end hotel?
In my upcoming posts, I'll talk about some of our favorite places we've spent the night!

Today we explored a place that is in our home state, Winnekenni Park in Haverhill, MA. We hiked a new trail and had a nice walk in the cold air. I was very glad for the layers we had purchased for Iceland this morning!

This trail was flat and an easy walk, and it leads to Lake Saltonstall (known as Plug Pond locally). This area has a playground, and in summer you can swim in the lake.

On the Winnekenni end, you can hike or drive up to the castle at the top of the hill. Winnekenni also has a playground and mostly flat trail around Kenoza Lake.

Where do you like to hike in your area?

If you've got kids, or are a child at heart, take a moment to visit the Giantess Cave in Keflavík, Iceland. We enjoyed our scenic little walk down her path. Alas, while we heard her inside, her door was locked and she was not accepting visitors. I believe she's more hospitable in the summer months.
Anyone have photos of the inside of her house? We loved the scale of her chairs and home.
The path was easily accessible and the cost is free! A great, budget friendly way to spend an extra thirty minutes.
