WE DID IT!!!! 🥹🗽

I’m not gonna lie.. the past 13 weeks of training, while going through maybe the most challenging time of my life, and the Marathon itself was one of the hardest things I’ve experienced so far.

Due to the ‘unseasonable' hot and humid conditions for this event (24 °C and especially 90 % humidity - the hottest November 6 on record for New York City’s Central Park) and all the long bridges & hills, I wanted to pass out physically by km 29. But my heart and head wouldn’t let me 🙏🏼

Thanks to everyone who was cheering us on from afar! And a huge thank you for this special experience, your support and friendship! What an unforgettable experience running 26.2 miles / 42,2 km through the city 🍎🏙

Now that our hearts are full, let’s do more!

P.S. If the NYC Marathon or any other destination is on your bucket list, check out - everything was perfectly organized & the team (Oliver, Niels & Jessi) took care of us with their whole heart!

Neuss 🇩🇪🤝🇮🇱 Herzliya

My hometown , which was founded in 16 BC and is one of the oldest cities in Germany, is planning a town twinning with .city .

To support this partnership, we are currently scheduling the establishment of an association for German-Israeli friendship in Neuss.

Thanks to the great support of our mayor .reiner , we had an initial exchange on future activities yesterday and I'm already looking forward to what's to come! 🙌🏼

I will of course keep you updated & please feel free to reach out to me in case you would like to be a part of this journey. The association will be a platform for exchange, so I will be happy to hear any idea you may have 💫

Thank you for hosting our „Israel evening“ !

Wherever you are, be there fully.

One of the most beautiful things about living abroad: Meeting wonderful people from all over the world, connecting much faster than this would usually be the case and being a „family abroad“.

I‘m beyond grateful for meeting all of you & am looking forward to seeing you again - wherever this might be! 🌍♥️

The River of Life is a convergence point of two rivers: the Klang River and the Gombak River 🌴

The Klang River, known as Sungai Klang by the locals, streams through the regions of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and eventually into the straits of Malacca. The Gombak River is another major river in the Klang Valley.

One of the main attractions is the “Dancing Symphony Fountain”, featuring a hi-tech water system installed that sprouts to various rhythms of music.

Can‘t leave Malaysia without a picture of the most famous landmark on my feed 😉

Petronas Twin Towers were once the tallest buildings in the world - from their competition in 1998 until 2004 when Taipei's 101 was built. The Petronas Towers remain the tallest twin towers in the world. Located in the KL city centre, the towers house the corporate headquarters of the Petronas Company and other offices.

The Thean Hou Temple is located in Kuala Lumpur, only 5 min drive from Chinatown! 🏮🧧🐂

Built in 1984, the temple is one of the largest in Southeast Asia. Dedicated to Tian Hou, a goddess said to protect fishermen, the temple is also a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy.

More about Thean Hou Temple in my highlight „MY Thean Hou“.

Go beyond your Instagram feed...

For me the most important thing to understand is how complex the conflict in the middle east is and, therefore, to be mindful with your words and actions!

I've lived in Israel for 3.5 years and the more I learned/read about the conflict, the more I understood how many layers and perspectives there are to it and how much there is still to learn for me!

So, here are my personal recommendations for books to start with. To get a holistic picture, I would recommend not to read only one book, but rather to read as many different perspectives as possible - from Israelis, Palestinians, Muslims, Jews, and Arabs.

Are there any books that you think should definitely be on the reading list? Let me know! 🕊️

Happy Chinese New Year 🧧🌕🐂🎊

These celebrations are a good opportunity for a to a day trip to Thean Hou Temple in Kuala Lumpur before lockdown.

Thean Hou Temple was built in 1984 and is one of the largest temples in Southeast Asia. Dedicated to Tian Hou, a goddess said to protect fishermen, the temple is also a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy.

The Temple is located in Kuala Lumpur, only 5 min drive from Chinatown!

to our day trip to the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur with a few facts about Hinduism 🕉:

• Hinduism is the 3rd largest religion in the world, after Christianity and Islam.

• Hinduism actually believes in only one god, but in many forms.

• Both male and female deities are worshipped with equal reverence in Hinduism. This is also because in Hinduism, god is considered both male and female, or as the one who has no s*x or both.

• Om (🕉) is actually believed to be the manifestation of consciousness in sound form.

• The Hindu belief includes Dharma (ethics/duties), saṃsāra (the continuing cycle of birth, life, death, and rebirth), Karma (action, intent, and consequences), Moksha (liberation from saṃsāra or liberation in this life), and the various yogas (paths or practices).

• According to Hindus, the religion has no founder or origin.

• The Rig Veda (from rg "praise" and veda "knowledge") is one of the four sacred canonical texts was written more than 3800 years ago, making Hinduism one of, if not the oldest religion in the world.

Any facts you can add?

More pictures in my highlight “MY Batu Caves”!

(According to the regulations, I wore a mask the whole time and only took it off briefly for this photo.)

KLCC Park 🏙🌴💚

Located directly behind the Petronas Towers, KLCC Park has over 1,900 indigenous trees from 74 species & is the perfect spot, if you are craving some nature in the middle of the city.

About Me

Hi! I'm Alex, originally from Dusseldorf in Germany and I never imagined I would ever leave my home town until 2011. After my husband and I spent 5 years in Frankfurt a. M. and in Kaiserslautern for professional reasons, we got the chance to move to Israel in 2017. We arrived without any expectations and fell in love with Israel from the very first second - above all because of the warm and open-minded people who immediately infected us with their positive attitude.

The impressive history and culture. A nature that has A LOT to offer - from mountains and forests in the north, to southern flair on the Mediterranean Sea, to the Negev desert in the south. Incredibly good and fresh food. A successful start-up scene and fascinating economy. A great nightlife in Tel Aviv. Mediterranean climate. Beautiful beaches. And just very warm and friendly people.

I hope my impressions give you a little insight to the diversity of the country and I am happy to share my personal tips with everyone who is planning to travel to Israel in the future. I try to stay away from complex politics in all contributions and therefore only address those who are looking for recommendations on sights and activities in Israel.
