Danilia Village, close to Corfu Town, is a beautiful replica of a 1930s Corfiot village which has been used as a set for several movies, notably for the James Bond film “For Your Eyes Only”, and most recently for the filming of the smash hit ITV series “The Durrells”.
It's very pretty and a pleasure to walk around - there are several shops, a traditional café a church and small museum.
Entry is €10 but this can then be used as credit at the café. Our drinks came with some of the tastiest loukoumia we've ever had!
Well worth a visit!

A wonderful evening, as always, ._.restaurant in Marathias village, which is a 10min drive from Little Iremía.
It might not be situated by the sea but it has lovely views of the west coast of South Corfu and the restaurant itself is beautiful, an olive tree grows through it and the tables are hand crafted from olive wood too.
The food is excellent and the owners are lovely.

It was a beautiful day yesterday for the Epiphany celebrations in the village of Petriti. Petriti is the next village along the coast from us - just a 5 minute drive away - and is Corfu's main fishing port. It was so lovely to see so many people from both Petriti and neighbouring villages out on the harbour yesterday to watch the Blessing of the Waters in the sunshine. The tradition is that a priest, surrounded by brave young men and boys, throws a cross into the sea. The minute the cross leaves the priest’s hand, the divers jump into the water to catch the cross. The lucky one who finds and returns the cross is blessed by the priest.
