Here to brighten your Monday up a bit is our B&A of the day! This one is all about bedrooms! I've already shown you the transformation in the master bedroom, but the upstairs bedrooms are pretty impactful, too!

Ceilings were scraped, walls painted, carpet replaced, and built-ins ripped out to create space for beds!

With our Airbnbs, our number 1 rule is heads in beds, so you'll never find less than a queen sized bed in our houses, unless the space really just can't accommodate it.

Luckily, once those built-ins were ripped out, we had plenty of room for two queen beds in one room and a king size in the other room upstairs!

In these spaces, a less noticeable change we made was building out a wall to add a little more space to the bathroom area, and getting rid of a closet to be able to have a true Jack & Jill bathroom, with a shared tub/shower area, and two rooms both fitted with a vanity and toilet for maximum privacy! But that's a B&A for another day!

Not going to lie, y'all, this being pregnant thing is officially kicking my butt. Between being 32 weeks pregnant, huge, and sick, this week has been a doozy. BUT I'm feeling a little more normal (as normal as you can get when you're this pregnant) and we're BACK with a B&A for your Thursday! :)

As mentioned before, the master bathroom in our BDD BNB III was also the guest bathroom downstairs. Talk about awkward! There was an entry from both the master bedroom and the hallway. We knew we had to change this to make this more functional and appealing to potential guests.

We ended up utilizing the closet in the master bedroom (and framed in and finished another one in a different corner of the bedroom) to make 1 bathroom into 1.5 bathrooms!

The original space we were working with was a 10'x5' space, just enough for a decent sized vanity, toilet and tub/shower combo. If we added the master closet to the mix, we knew that we could easily have a 5'x5' powder bath and a 10'x5' master bath with a large walk-in shower and double vanity!

Walls came down, old HVAC ducts came out, plumbing was moved, new electrical was run, a new wall was built and voila!

The powder bathroom is cute and stylish and just the right size for a small vanity and toilet! And only ONE entrance from the hallway!

The master bathroom has an oversized and beautiful walk-in tile shower (designed by my super handsome, super talented husband) and two sinks (something I consider a must for a master bathroom) with a private entrance from the master bedroom.

We made a lot of changes to this fabulous house, but this one is in my top 3!

One. More. Hour. and then it's quitting time! To help the time to pass, how about a B&A for your Tuesday?!

We had a tough decision to make with this master suite in our most recent Airbnb. You see, the master bathroom (which will get its own feature) was also the downstairs guest bathroom... Meaning, there were two entrances to the small bathroom... One from the master bedroom and one from the hallway. Weird, right?

We knew we wanted to address this issue using the footprint we had, so we removed the master closet, created a true master bathroom (only accessed from the bedroom) and a true guest bathroom (only accessed from the hallway), and added a small closet in one corner of the bedroom.

Would we have made this decision if this were a flip house? Probably not... We know how important closets are to buyers! But we are confident that the decision to give our guests a private master suite was the right one for this awesome Airbnb!

Thankful for all of our great guests!

FriYAY B&A!

THE KITCHEN (enter all the heart-eye emojis here) 😍

This kitchen was daaaaark and knowing that we wanted to open up a large majority of the left wall, we knew we'd have to change the layout of appliances.

We ripped everything out (including the aforementioned wall) and created a new layout from scratch. The refrigerator is now nicely tucked away next to a built-in pantry in the corner, allowing plenty of room for the range and microwave on the right wall, and a bank of cabinets and what seems like endless counter-space on the left wall!

We added recessed LED lighting and a rustic white chandelier in the breakfast nook to really brighten it up, installed all new white shaker cabinets, quartz countertops, a beautiful arabesque tile backsplash and a classic painted-look tile on the floors.

Brand new stainless steel appliances, craftsman trim around the window and staging items really finished out the space and we couldn't be happier!

This is for sure a kitchen for gathering and we hope our guests will love it and enjoy cooking and gathering in this space! ❤️

Everyone may dread Monday's, but at least we have a few new B&As to get you out of that Monday funk! 😉

As mentioned previously, the living room was a long, narrow area that really required two seating areas to make sense... OR we, of course, had the option to make part of it something useful... Which is exactly what we did!

It's amazing how the addition of a simple chandelier can turn any space into a dining room in an instant! Add a fabulous farmhouse table and chairs and you're set!

Another HUGE transformation is the staircase! We ripped out the old handrail, balusters and carpet and cut new retrofit treads and risers. We did a little something special to the front of the risers (please see pictures from last Tuesday's B&As) and put a peel and stick pattern on them to really make the staircase stand out! We also utilized this gas pipe to create new handrails going all the way up the stairs! I love the way this turned out!

And we can't forget our new craftsman-style front door and ALL. THAT. SHIPLAP. 😍

Tuesday B&A!

The living room before was a long, narrow space that didn’t allow for great seating options, meaning that about half of the space would be useless unless we broke it up into two separate seating areas, and that felt a little forced to me.

Upon deciding that this would be an Airbnb/VRBO property, we started thinking that we should probably add an additional dining space, because... if you can sleep 8 people, you need to be able to seat 8 people at mealtimes!

We scraped the ceilings, added can lighting in the living area and a chandelier in the new dining space to delineate the two spaces. We also added extensive shiplapping and craftsman trim (shoutout to my hubby, ❤ HAAAAAY, for surprising me with both) and really opened up the space between the living room/dining room and the kitchen (but that will be a B&A for another day 😉)

And let’s hear it for the antique mantel that was salvaged decades ago, saved, and then hand-cut by my awesome grandpa for this project! 👏🏼👏🏼

It's time to bring back the B&A of the day!

The exterior of BDD BNB III was pretty plain Jane before, but with a few thoughtful changes and some work with a pressure washer, she became a beauty!

We replaced the traditional columns and victorian-type corbels with some thicker, 8x8 square columns and added some dark house numbers.

We also removed all of the old railings and added simple, yet striking, black iron pipe railing (an ode to the interior stairs).

The old louvered, undersized shutters had to go! We built some beefed up wood shutters and finished them with a dark stain to really pop and compliment the brick skirt around the house.

We finished it off by adding new oversized lighting and replacing the original front door with a beautiful new crafstman style, sans the storm door!

All of the siding and concrete also got a good pressure washing, and although that's not nearly as fun to talk about, it really makes a huge difference!
