Wiveliscombe, or Wivey as it is know as, is a small town in west Somerset, England, situated 9 miles west of Taunton. Wivey is ideally located to explore the Brendon Hills, the Quantocks, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, as well as Exmoor National Park. Wivey, is a bustling little town comprising pubs, restaurants and an interesting variety of independent shops including a family run butcher and a delicatessen. There is a lively Saturday morning market where stall holders sell local produce including vegetables, bread, cheeses, fresh fish and locally produced ready meals. The town has two pubs both serving good food, the Bear on North Street and the White Hart on the Square. The Bear has a steak night on a Wednesday and 2 for 1 pizza on a Thursday.
There are two free public car parks in Wiveliscombe, both about 5 minutes walk from the Cottage. There is on street parking but difficult to find a place. We can arrange secure private parking approximately 2 minutes from the property. There is a local bus service from Wiveliscombe to Taunton or Dulverton. A car or bicycle is recommended for getting around. The nearest train station is Taunton.
