al-Bahrain one of the most important that you can visit in .

Is the site of a port which was once the capital of the Dilmun civilization, and served more recently as a Portuguese fort.
The site gets its name from Qal`at al-Burtughal (Portuguese fort). In the early 1500s, the Portuguese saw Bahrain as a key point to protect their trade routes between India, Africa and Europe. They invaded the island and set up military base at the Bahrain . They strengthened the already existing fortress and erected new stone towers.

The site was only rediscovered in 1954. Restoration was started in 1987.

Indian sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik applies the final touches to a sand art sculpture he created for passengers of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370, on a beach in the eastern Indian state of Odisha on March 9 2014. The Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew went missing near the South China Sea on Saturday as it flew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. It is presumed to have crashed, but sightings of debris remain unconfirmed.

Our prayers and thoughts are with the missing passengers and their family.
