Cape Town's iconic Table Mountain can be spotted from hundreds of kilometers away out at sea. Early mariners would eagerly look out for this giant "Inn sign" with its promise of fresh food, water, and numerous taverns. In fact Cape Town became known as the "Tavern of the Seas".

Look at this beauty! Our client Jennifer from California was fortunate enough to see a fabled and very rare White Lion on safari in South Africa's Timbavati Game Reserve.
White lions are not albino lions. They are leucistic - a recessive gene mutation makes their fur white.
Safari guide Zach Savage, dwarfed by the largest baobab tree in the northern Kruger National Park.
Consider this: when tyrant-king Henry VIII was in power, this tree was already 1000 years old! Baobabs can live up to 3000 years.
Along with the flat-topped Acacias of East Africa, Baobabs are Africa’s most iconic trees.
Their nicknames include the “upside down tree”, and “cream of tartar tree” (cream of tartar can be made from baobab seed pulp).

"After 3 years stuck in Hong Kong due to COVID-19 restrictions, we had a pent-up thirst for adventure, so (unfortunately for them) Ashworth Africa had huge expectations to meet. After our 2 weeks trip, we are happy to say that these expectations were met in spades.
Our trip spanned Cape Town, Kruger National Park, and Johannesburg – all of which were coordinated by Patrick Ashworth and his team. Their task was further complicated by the unruly weather, which means we needed to be flexible to fit in key highlights such as a (secret) helicopter flight around Cape Peninsula amidst an already packed schedule. Ashworth Africa’s attention to details and their passion for showing the best of South Africa made our trip a truly unforgettable experience!
We will certainly use their services again, when we visit South Africa a second time!"
Good news for Asian travellers looking for that dream safari! Cathay Pacific will resume direct flights between Hong Kong and South Africa on August 2nd, operating three flights per week.

The collection includes works by Irma Stern, Sydney Kumalo and Gerard Sekoto.

Having a rough day? This photo of an Aardvark cub may cheer you up.
Aardvark babies are born singly, underground in burrows. After just 2 weeks, the cub starts joining its mother on foraging trips. By 9 weeks old, it will start feeding on the aardvark diet of ants and termites; it will also have grown a hair covering.
Aardvarks ("earth pigs") are found throughout sub-Saharan Africa. Some of the most likely places to spot these shy, nocturnal mammals include the semi-arid regions of South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.

Cheetahs are set to roam in India for the first time since they were declared officially extinct in 1952!
Eight cheetahs have been flown from Namibia to India, where they will undergo a month-long quarantine before being released in a national park.

Table Mountain's famous "tablecloth" is a meteorological phenomenon where clouds cover the flat summit, creating a white, tablecloth-like appearance. This occurrence is common from October to March, and the clouds can quickly change, giving the mountain a mystical and dynamic appearance.
