RAE Body Test
We have been testing the new RAE Pro Mod 67 Camaro Body over the past few weeks to determine how well it would perform on the track compared to current preferred Pro Mod bodies. I would like to thank Mike Rey and Jerry Shields for their time and effort with these tests. I would like to share their results with you.

Mike Rey is one of the fastest Pro Mod racers and has been consistently in the low 1.3s and even dipped into the 1.2s on a number of occasions during testing the past year. He is very methodical in his approach to both racing and testing. His cars are well prepared. Mike ran his Pro Mod chassis with both his current body of choice the last two years and the new RAE Camaro body during testing. The two runs were done on the same day with a very short turnaround time so that track and weather conditions would not have a significant effect on the data obtained. The results showed that both runs were done on a very equal basis with the same battery and chassis setup as close as possible for each run. With this setup the 6 foot and 60 foot times were both equal. The Camaro body produced a slightly quicker ET time and 1.5 mph faster trap speed then his current PM body.

Jerry Shields has also been very fast and consistent in Pro Mod and has won numerous Pro Mod races at RCDRL events held in Texas. Jerry keeps very detailed notes on each and every pass he makes to help him with getting the best out of his car. Recently he undertook some testing on the same track on two different occasions. The first test was done with his current winning Pro Mod body fitted. The next test was with the new RAE Camaro body fitted. He had the same chassis and setup for both tests. Jerry reported that both bodies created very similar and near identical times with the Camaro body test being done on a slightly stickier track.

Neither of these tests was conducted in a perfect environment or using exact science and laboratory equipment….but close enough to confirm that the RAE 67 Camaro body is a good choice for your Pro Mod car.

We will continue to test the other three new Pro Mod bodies.

Very Popular Full Size Muscle Car! I may add this to the list for a future RC Body project, however I have a lot of bodies in production now.....plate is full.....perhaps down the road! I just read an article today that stated the fact that the Dodge Challenger has passed the Camaro in full size muscle car sales so I was curious about doing another Dodge some day and looked at pictures.

I went to Teas Midwest Outlaw National dirt oval race yesterday in Rochester Minnesota. It was great to see a lot of my friends there as it has been a quite a few years since I attended the event. There was a large number of racers with about 190 entries.

However my main reason for going was to watch my friend Adam Radiske race as he put two of my RAE cars into their class A main races! Adam drove great as he usually does and finished 2nd in the Mid West Modified race and 4th in a tough 17.5 Late Model class! Congrats Adam!

It was a great treat to see my MWM chassis work so well and the prototype RAEV11 Late Model chassis!

Thanks Adam!

RAE News: the sale of RAE Drag division has been completed this past week. My good friend Tony Rudis will take over as the new owner of RAE Drag as soon as we finish all the account transfers. We have been working on this sale for some time now and I am excited to see Tony take over the reins of the business. The business will be in good hands! The timing of the sale is also perfect as it coincides with my battle with cancer.

Tony can be contacted at Rudis Motorsports for all your RC drag racing needs. He has a page as well as a website. I will continue with the RC body part of the business. I will also continue to race and design RC products as that will always be in my blood and I will now treat it as a hobby. I would like to thank all of you for your support and business through the years! Roy

Taking the words from Tony Rudis - Wanted to Congratulate Mike Rey for his excellent performance this past weekend in Kissimee F.L. Not only was it his first race but the first time out with the ...new RAE 3002 Direct Drive Pro Mod Car and boy did he get the job done. He qualified #1 with a 1.37 second pass and was in the low 1.4's all day long. Way to go Mike!!!

DragSPEC Pro Stock. In 1997 I designed a prototype Pro Stock 1/10 scale RC chassis that was intended to be a cheaper alternative to the top end Grand Motorsports Pro Stock we were currently running. The idea was to allow racers to get into drag racing without spending a lot of money and still have fun with a chassis that worked well, and allowed them to decide if it was a hobby that they wanted to get more involved in. There was even initial discussion about creating a "Spec" class but it never was created. Through the next few years I still kept the idea alive and eventually produced a chassis called the DragSPEC. We sold a lot of DragSPEC cars and they proved to have a valid spot in RC drag racing.
Well, the DragSPEC is BACK, and for the same reasons! The 2017 version is a lot closer to the current high end 1711 chassis then the original DragSPEC was to the high end GMS Pro Stock. Check out all the features of the 2017 version of the DragSPEC! We are excited to bring this chassis out for "Great Performance at a Affordable Price".

News for the 2017 Race Season

*We modified the RAE #619 64FOUR40 body filling in the rear wheel well cutout on the vacuum forming tool making it possible to put it on a 11 inch Pro Stock chassis, or on a 12 inch Pro Mod chassis. Testing and racing the 64Four40 body in Pro Mod last year impressed us with how stable and straight the cars ran. So, now there is an option for the 11 inch Pro Stock chassis to take advantage of the performance of the 64FOUR40 body while also allowing it to look right with a proper rear wheel cutout at 11inches!

* We are happy to announce that our RAE 3000 Direct Drive line of chassis have gone through final testing and the revisions have been made to create what we feel will be a high performance chassis with numerous unique features and adjustments. Parts production has begun so we will have kits, prices and parts available soon.

* Looking forward to bringing out two new bodies before the summer, and we also have two NEW projects that we are finalizing and are very excited to produce ....so stay tuned as those details will be

The RAE 3000 Drive Line TF Dragster chassis will be ready to test very soon! The graphite parts will arrive next week and chassis will be built. Next the prototypes will be sent out for testing. We are excited to have the final chassis in the RAE 3000 DL line joining the Pro Mod and Funny Car DL chassis. As with the other chassis as soon as we are happy with the Top Fuel chassis and have a final design we will go into production. Chassis features include CNC machined aluminum motor and bearing plates, 2mm graphite chassis parts, adjustable ride height, and multiple locations to move braces and plates to adjust the chassis.

I have been asked a lot recently about the topic of copying:

I do not have patents on anything I design and produce. I do have integrity and honor, as well as a reputation I have tried hard to maintain, and that has always been good enough through the years to minimize copying.

I cannot control what a customer thinks, feels, or does with their hard earned money. I do not want to control it…. I feel it is not right.

I just ask the customer to consider all the things that are associated with a product beyond its design.

RCDRL Oct. 22 Race Report.

First off the track was very good and was maintained constantly. The weather was perfect. But what a race! 157 entries for a one day race that was ran in 10 hours and needed four rounds of eliminations in most of the classes. Michael and the fine crew of helpers had everything up and running on time and were organized as well as I have seen. However the thing that impressed me the most was the large number of youth participating as this is the future for the hobby and I feel in is in good hands in with the Texas youth!

A huge thank you to Jesse Hernandez and his great family for providing the space and support for us, and to Michael and the RCDRL crew for their organization and hard work, and all the nice racers that stopped by our pits to say hi and chat about racing...I had a blast at this race!

For Team RAE; The Pro Stocks (3) worked great all day until 2 of the cars got up on the wheelie bar too hard in eliminations. The third car was like a slot car all day. It went all 4 rounds in eliminations, set a track record when it ran a 1.65 et. and won Pro Stock. In the Pro Mod class we had one car and it also broke their track record. It made it through all 4 rounds. In the finals the PM went up on the wheelie bar as it did all day but turned the car this time and finished second. Craig had the Funny Car running in the Quick 16 class and was a fast constant car running in the low 1.7s like a bracket car all morning. In eliminations it brushed the wall and ended the day for that class.

In the end we had a great time racing, met a lot of new friends and witnessed a very efficiently run race. I will gladly go back to race again!
