Wardenclyffe Games We make games old-school style with cards, boards and plastic pieces. We're a young start-up company working hard to get our first two games out to the market.

"Like" us to follow along with our progress. Started in 2011, Wardenclyffe Games is one of those cool synchronicities where two like-minded strangers meet and through some perfect combination of skill-sets and ambitions a company is formed. Both of Wardenclyffe's owners/designers have been playing games for years and in that time ideas for original games percolated in the background, some reasonab

ly well-formed, others fragmentary and disconnected. Wardenclyffe Games is our chance to sculpt these fragments, themes and mechanics into polished hobby games that we know we'll enjoy playing and that we hope you will as well.

Haven't posted anything in almost four years! Let me rectify that. We have three game concepts that we're pursuing with the ferocity of a wet newspaper. They're good concepts with interesting mechanics. We'll see if they ever amount to anything.

What an excellent brainstorming session! We added a new layer of complexity to "Molecules!" which increases the strategy involved in the game without adding undue baggage. That game remains light and quick-playing while requiring a bit more thought. Excited to start playtesting...coming soon to a location near you*!

*Assuming you invite us over to a location near you.

Work / playtesting session today for "Molecules!". It's getting close. Just a few more tweaks...

29/01/2012

Zombie Run underwent another semi-radical shift today but I think it's finally found that comfortable spot between complexity and ease of play. It should be ready for playtesting by the end of this weekend!

20/01/2012

Slight shift in priorities. Molecules!, a game Alex started working on years ago has moved to the front of the production line. It's fun, easy to learn, involves equal parts strategy and luck and, most importantly, can be brought to market relatively quickly. Alex is working on streamlining the mechanics while Jason's busy on graphic design for the tiles. Look for playtesting sessions soon!

Gad! Real life can really get in the way of pursuing your side dreams. What with work, commitments and getting married (which for Jason was another dream well worth back-burnering game design) Wardenclyffe has really suffered. But Alex and Jason are recommitting themselves with the start of this new year, kicking off with a design meeting this afternoon. Here's to a year of forging great games people can actually play!

The come down from GenCon is hard! Thankfully Jason's fiancee indulged him and kept the gaming going for a few days after he returned home. You have to step down gradually...

09/08/2011

GenCon was a huge success! Among the many great experiences we were lucky enough to have Will Niebling, former EVP with TSR, CEO of Mayfair Games and currently the owner of ElfinWerks agreed to sit down with us for 45 minutes and let us pick his brain. What a stellar guy. We're grateful for his generosity, candor and wisdom. Learned tons of valuable stuff. Can't wait for next year!

04/08/2011

The unofficial first day of GenCon went very, very well. Lots of good food, some gaming in the lobby of the Omni Severin Hotel, and plenty of friends to hang out with.

Tomorrow, lots of gaming, Call of Cthulhu for me and board gaming for Jason. Friday, we descend on the dealer room to talk to other companies. We're hoping for some new friends out there in the world who can give us the benefit of their hard won experience in the industry!

Had a blast at Tiffani and Dave's Board Game Barbecue last night, chatting, drinking and playtesting Zombie Run. Big thanks for the gaming table amidst all the other "real" games being played.

17/05/2011

Had a great time playtesting Zombie Run, Mark II over the weekend. I think this rejiggering of the original game is a resounding success! Got a lot of great feedback so thanks to everyone who played!

10/05/2011

Zombie Run, Mark II is nearly complete and should start playtesting this Saturday! I'm actually more excited than one exclamation mark can convey, but I swore I'd never be one of "those people".

*No offense to "those people", of course. :)

07/05/2011

Game design is a very time-consuming business. Anyone that tells you otherwise has either a very skewed perception of time or lies about very strange, pointless things.

24/04/2011

Camp Terror is on its way! Board...designed. Mechanics...malleable but existent. Cards...conceived but nowhere near completion. We still have a long way to go but we've made bold moves away from vague concept into firmly playable territory. Watch your back if you venture into the woods...

21/04/2011

Our third game concept, intended as a back burner enterprise has taken hold of our imaginations (and at least one friend's) and is begging to be birthed! We're getting together this Saturday to flesh out the game board, the cards and the mechanics and will hopefully have a new game to start playtesting soon!

12/04/2011

We added another game concept to the pipeline yesterday. It's on a far back burner, but it's there, bubbling away. I think I might have gotten some on my shirt.

02/04/2011

Scheduled a brainstorming session via we**am today because that's the sort of 22nd century company we are!

30/03/2011

Zombie Run 2.0 is percolating faster than I expected. Every moment I steal to think about it adds more flesh to the bones. I'm hoping now to have something to test in a few weeks.

Had a flash of insight this morning. Could mean major changes for the Zombie Run system and loads of new strategy. Of course it also means redesigning a decent portion of the deck, but I think it's a good thing. Baby steps...

27/03/2011

Yesterday's playtesting session was a blast! Thanks to everyone that came out. Next time we'll throw Reparations into the mix, too. And if we're feeling frisky the pizza may have two toppings instead of one.

25/03/2011

This Saturday is our first official playtesting session. If you're a member of our playtesters group you should have already received an invitation. If you'd like to get on the list, let one of us know.

19/03/2011

Wardenclyffe Games may have had its start a few months ago, but with a page, it's now official! Wardenclyffe has arrived!
