The Hanmer Haven recently got a mini makeover! We added some cosy cushions and throws to the lounge, new linen upstairs and a special spot on the verandah to relax ... everyone seems to like so far, even the 🐾🤩

Do you have plans for Ngā Mata o te Ariki? Or as most of us will know it - Matariki. Our newest public holiday - Matariki is a cluster of stars (Pleiades) that rises in mid-winter, marking the start of the Māori New Year.

Hanmer Springs obviously has a huge draw card in the thermal resort but we love all the other attractions and activities it offers too!

With the Holiday House being centrally located there is heap of stuff to do within walking distance:

🏊 Thermal Resort - 12 min walk
🏌️‍♀️ Golf course - 2 min stroll to the edge
🏞 River walks - 5 min walk to start of river track
☕️ Cafes and retail - 10 min walk
🏔 Bottom of Conical hill track - 10 min walk

So if you've got a fine day when you stay, leave your car in the drive, go for a walk and soak up that beaut alpine air 🥰

We can’t promise there will be champagne on arrival when you check into the Hanmer Holiday House (you’re welcome to BYO tho 🥂) but we can promise a cosy dining nook with views through the reserve into the mountains 🏔🌄

We searched for a long time to find the perfect holiday house.

Our search took us to Kaikoura, Akaroa, even as south as Twizel but the day we saw this house pop up on trademe, we knew it was special.

After the first viewing, that was it, we were emotionally invested *the best kind of buyer* as per real estate agents lol.

While it's not the most modern or fancy of holiday homes, everyone who stays, tells us how special and peaceful it is.

We don't know if it's the warm lockwood interior, the birdsong, the mountain views, or just a combination of all, that makes it so charming. But we've been sold on coming here since day 1 and we know you will be too.

Welcome to our new page for our cosy little alpine retreat in the heart of Hanmer Springs 🏔

With three bedrooms but sleeping for up to 8 plus your fur friends, we are a great choice for your next trip to Hanmer.

Backing onto a reserve there’s plenty of space for all the kids (🧍‍♀️🧍‍♂️ + 🐕) to play.

Our native garden attracts the tui and bellbirds, sitting on our veranda listening to the bird song is one of our favourite relaxing things to do here.

However we’re only a short walk to the golf course or a 10min walk to the cafes and bars.

There’s so much to do in Hanmer for both families, couples and groups. We’ll be sharing our favourites here on this page 🙏
