Our summer WOL workshop will take place from July 22 - 27th in Berlin and we are currently accepting applications from writers who would benefit from a focused-small group writing retreat in an international setting.
From posh to punk, we'll explore both Berlin's grand boulevards and dark alleyways (adorned with some of the best street art in the world). We'll have Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenberg Gate as our muse and we'll let Berlin's famous avant-garde theater and Bauhaus architecture turn our imaginations over and give them a fresh start. We'll share stories, sumptuous meals and daily adventures, whether picnicking in the Gruenweld Forest or browsing the stalls in the Mauer Park flea market.
Let's investigate this inspiring city, with its dramatic history, its unorthodox character and its ongoing, perpetual transformation. Let's uncover its scars and its beauty, its artists and its angels, and then let's write the stories that it evokes.
The cost for the workshop is $950. Included is an orientation session to Berlin, daily instruction, feedback and excursions to select writing destinations and a group meal each day in some of Berlin's tastiest spots. Not included are your transportation to Berlin or your accommodations and transportation while there, though we are very happy to point you toward the good deals and resources that we have found for flights and hotels/apartments.
