This year, we got to see how the Lunar New Year is celebrated in Thailand. ๐น๐ญ We went with our friends @ourownvoyage to Bangkok's Chinatown, but before long, the heat combined with uncomfortably huge crowds got the best of us. That's ok, though. Tonight's CNY experience ended quicker than planned, but for weeks, we have already been marveling at the city's elaborate decorations, specialty foods, and festive ambiance felt all over the city! It's definitely much more than just a 1 day event.

It's early, yes, but since we're at home for the holidays, we decided to maximize that festive feeling until we head off on our travels again.
This year has been the earliest we have ever set up our tree! ๐ It's not even December yet. ๐ But everyone in our neighborhood seems to have had the same idea as all the homes are decorated already. It inspired us to get a head start, too. Who knows, maybe we'll see some snow soon, too.

1๏ธโฃ Porteau Cove: the campsites have direct beach access with a glorious view ๐๐

2๏ธโฃ Cultus Lake: beyond all the fun lake activities, they also have an amusement park, water slides, mini golf, and more just a 5 minute drive from the sites ๐ก๐ข
3๏ธโฃ Alice Lake: gorgeous lake within a stone's throw to world-class Whistler Village.
4๏ธโฃ Golden Ears Park: only an hour's drive from the city of Vancouver this massive park is convenient to escape into nature.
5๏ธโฃ Sunnyside Campground: in the same Cultus Lake area, but it's a private campsite rather than a provincial one. It's perfect for families with little ones as they have tons of onsite activities like outdoor movies, playgrounds, story-time, and wagon rides.

๐ There are junior and adult sized gokarts. Kids over 5'2" will need an adult kart (they run much faster!). My kids were super happy to be in an adult kart.
๐ Choose a place like this one where the gokarts are electric, as the gas-run ones put out a lot of stinky fumes.๐ท

๐ You can choose 1, 2 or 3 races. The more you race the less each one costs. We only did 1 since it was our 1st time and we weren't sure if we'd like it. It cost about $25 CAD per race and each race lasts about 15 minutes. Junior races cost less. We would definitely choose the 3-race pack next time!
๐There are free lockers to store your things.
๐ This place also had an air hockey table (4-person) to play between races.
Go-karting is not only perfect for any adrenaline junkies in your family it's also a super fun indoor activity during a rainy Vancouver day.

The problem with showing them the world is....they learn to become quite adventurous, more willing to try new things, to get out there, and to live life to the fullest. Yeah, they also learn to take risks... like my 11 year old now wants to go sky diving for real. ๐ฌ This can be so scary to protective parents like us (and by us I mean me), but whenever I start to feel that mama-bear-need to protect them from every danger in the world, I remember that everything they are learning now also means they will have the courage to follow their dreams and be true to who they really are.ย And that's the best thing we can hope for. โค๏ธ
