All aboard! 🚂✨ The Night Trains are happening at the Twin City Model Railroad Museum now - February 22!
The Twin City Model Railroad Museum is celebrating its 90th anniversary. The museum consists of over 11,000 square feet of interactive layouts and displays.
So, what are Night Trains? The lights are turned down, and the buildings and street lights create a warm glow, setting the scene of a magical, make-believe town called Matlin. The charming city is buried in a blizzard and is adorned with miniature lights and decorations.
The event happens every Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m., and tickets are sold in 2-hour time blocks. Visit Twin City Model Railroad Museum in St. Paul for more information!

Did you know Minnesota has a lake that's 1/3 as salty as the sea? 🌊
Salt Lake is located in western Lac qui Parle County, near the Minnesota/South Dakota border. The water has about one-third the salt content of seawater, due to mineral leaching from the area’s alkaline soils. Certain species thrive in the water and the lake is a very popular spot for bird watching.
Audubon Minnesota has documented more than 150 bird species at Salt Lake and it has been dedicated as an Important Bird Area. 🐦
According to Birdcast, an estimated 19,320,700 birds crossed Minnesota last night and one of the most popular times to visit is during the fall or spring migrations.
The Salt Lake Wildlife Management Area viewing area is on the east side of the lake, about 4 miles southwest of Marietta. Hike down a short trail from the parking lot to find an observation deck for optimal bird watching.

Did you know Minnesota has a pink beach? 💕✨
It's true! Iona's Beach Scientific & Natural Area is located on the North Shore of Lake Superior about 15 miles north of Two Harbors between Gooseberry Falls State Park and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park.
Instead of sand, this beach stretches 300 yards along Lake Superior and is covered in smooth pink rocks. The stones are made of pink rhyolite from a nearby cliff.
The beach also "sings" when the waves toss the rocks on the shore to create a subtle ringing chime.
The area is designated as a Scientific Natural Area (SNA) by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and is free to visit. Collecting rocks from the area is prohibited.
