A time for temples

If you have had so much of the beach, try visiting temples. Apart from being spiritually uplifting, temple-hopping can be culturally enlightening. There are a lot of temples to visit on Samui. The most famous of these religious sites, of course, is the Big Buddha (Phra Yai). Although not as old as other Big Buddha images in the country, it is a must-see for its enormity and beauty. The image, in Subduing Mara Posture, is a huge structure of golden tile finish. Located at the peak of Koh Fan Mountain, it offers visitors a scenic view of Bophut and Bangrak beaches, and Phangan Island.

Isan 5 days 4 nights
Ayutthaya, Korat, Khon Kaen, Nong Khai

Day 1 - Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Nakorn Ratchasima (Lunch - dinner). Depart to Ayutthaya, arrive and visit Bang Pa In Summer Palace, Wat Yai Chai MOngkol, wat Phra Sanphet, Wat Na Prameru Rachikaram, lunch at a local restaurant. Continue drive to Saraburi to visit Buddha foot print, then proceed to Nakorn Ratchasiam (Korat), arrive and check in at a hotel. Dinner at hotel, over night in Nakorn Ratchasima.

Day 2 - Korat - Pimai - Khon Kaen: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner). Breakfast at hotel, departure to visit archaeological site at Ban Prast, Pimai the Khmer ruin temple and Phimai National Museum. Lunch at a restaurant, proceed to Khon Kaen, check in at hotel. Dinner at hotel overnight in Khon Kaen.

Day 3 - Khon Kaen - Udon Thani: (Breakfast, lunch, dinner). Breakfast at hotel early morning the local market, the museum, of Khon Kaen and then transfer to Nong Khai then lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive at Nong Khai and then engage in a temple tour. Also, visit luang Pho Phra Sai, Friendship Bridge (Thai-Lao), Sala Kaew Koo and Ban Na Thorng, proceed to Udon Thani, Arrive check in at Hotel, Dinner at hotel, Overnight in Udon Thani

Day 4 - Udon Thani : (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner). Breakfast at hotel, Sightseeing tour visit Baan Chiang where archaeological objects dated back to over 2,000 years, Visit the grave site and its museum. Lunch at local restaurant, continue to visit Phraphutha bart buabok, Dinner at local restaurant, Overnight in Udon Thani

Day 5 - Udon Thani - Bangkok : (Breakfast) Breakfast at Hotel, Free at leisure until transfer to Airport for departure to Bangkok, TOUR END.

About Koh Phi Phi

The Phi Phi Islands are located in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the western Andaman Sea coast of the mainland. The islands are administratively part of Krabi province. Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest island of the group, and is the only island with permanent inhabitants, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Lee are visited by many people as well. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Bamboo Island, are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea.

Phi Phi Don was initially populated by Muslim fishermen during the late 1940s, and later became a coconut plantation. The Thai population of Phi Phi Don remains more than 80% Muslim. The actual population however, if counting laborers, especially from the north-east, from the mainland is much more Buddhist these days.

The islands came to worldwide prominence when Ko Phi Phi Leh was used as a location for the 2000 British-American film The Beach. This attracted criticism, with claims that the film company had damaged the island's environment, an accusation the film's makers contest. The film's release was attributed to an increase in tourism to the islands. Phi Phi Leh also houses the 'Viking Cave', from which there is a thriving bird's nest soup industry.

Ko Phi Phi was devastated by the Indian Ocean Tsunami of December 2004, when nearly all of the island's infrastructure was destroyed. As of 2010, most, but not all, of this has been restored.

About Krabi

Krabi province is visited by local and foreign tourists all year round for its towering limestone cliffs and secluded beaches.

Krabi is a southern province on Thailand's Andaman seaboard with perhaps the country's oldest history of continued settlement. After dating stone tools, ancient colored pictures, beads, pottery and skeletal remains found in the province's many cliffs and caves, it is thought that Krabi has been home to homo sapiens since the period 25,000 - 35,000 B.C. In recorded times it was called the 'Ban Thai Samor', and was one of twelve towns that used, before people were widely literate, the monkey for their standard. At that time, c. 1200 A.D., Krabi was tributary to the Kingdom of Ligor, a city on the Kra Peninsula's east coast better known today as Nakhon Si Thammarat.
