Passenger reunited with lost luggage - 20 years later

An Arizona woman has been reunited with her lost luggage misplaced during a flight - 20 years later.

Maria Dellos, an art shop owner from Tucson, says she received a call out of the blue from a Transportation Security Administration agent informing her of the find.

Her long lost suitcase, containing art supplies from a trade show in Las Vegas, went missing in 1994 and a recent reorganisation at Tucson International Airport unearthed the long forgotten bag, complete with a handwritten note from two decades ago.

"When I looked at this note, it was dated as 20 years ago and I was just absolutely blown away," Dellos said.

"I'm absolutely thankful to the TSA for calling me today and giving me great faith back into the airline industry."

TSA Spokesperson Nico Melendez explained that the lost luggage actually predates the agency.

"Items that pre-date our agency are interesting but I understand that we just did some shuffling of equipment at the airport, so it's quite possible that we came across something that somebody left unattended for a long period of time," he said.

TSA to Ban Dead Cell Phones:
Looks like the inevitable traffic jams around airport charging stations are about to get worse. In an official statement published Sunday, the Transportation Security Administration said it will no longer allow powerless cell phones, tablets and laptop computers on board.

The statement reads, “As the traveling public knows, all electronic devices are screened by security officers. During the security examination, officers may also ask that owners power up some devices, including cell phones. Powerless devices will not be permitted onboard the aircraft. The traveler may also undergo additional screening.”

The news follows a statement from U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson saying, “I have directed TSA to implement enhanced security measures in the coming days at certain overseas airports with direct flights to the United States. We will work to ensure these necessary steps pose as few disruptions to travelers as possible. We are sharing recent and relevant information with our foreign allies and are consulting the aviation industry.”
