And today we did it!!! Launched our first virtual “Meet & Greet” with the newly formed Gator Chapter of NY SKAL! On campus at the University of FL!!! GO GATORS!!

The new Student Board of Directors had a chance to introduce themselves to the members of the New York SKAL Club and the members of the Project Future committee! And what an  impressive group of students they are, who will become future Skalleagues, leading our organization, as well as the travel and tourism industry, towards
a brighter future!!

Like everyone else, I am worried sick about my friends in Florida. Growing up in Miami, we learned quickly that these things are completely unpredictable. I know I’m a long way off, butI I have loads of room for company for friends who want to drive to Indiana. If you’re told to evacuate, please listen to them.

Excited to be on my way to meet with the University of Florida students who will be starting our very first on-campus student chapter of Skal international.
“The Gator Chapter of Skal NY”.

What is also exciting is that our SKAL USA committee, PROJECT FUTURE, will be rolling out similar student chapters around the country.

PROJECT FUTURE…continues to progress with the exceptional efforts of so many team members. A Skål USA committee, Project Future, was established to bridge the gap between academia and the working world by opening the doors for hospitality students to gain real world experiences with the over 12,000 Skalleagues around the globe.
Yesterday’s Committee Zoom reviewed the official launch of Project Future at the recent NASC, North American Skål Congress and also discussed the following accomplishments and plans:
The Skål International Membership Development, Membership Development Fund and Young Skål Committee successfully launched the first of many Webinars to help guide students and Young Skalleagues through their educational days and early career journeys.
The alliance between NY Skål and the University of Florida is continuing their work this summer to launch by the Fall semester.
New committees are being formed and we invite your participation.
A “Tool Kit of Assets” is being developed to guide Skål Clubs through the process of growing their membership through today’s enthusiastic and highly intelligent youth.
We welcomed members of the Hawaii Club to the Project Future team and they provided us with an excellent presentation educating us on their stellar Young Skål program where they have raised over $100,000 in scholarship money!!

And that’s a wrap for this year’s IPW in LA. And it was GREAT! Our appointment schedule was 💯% booked and 💯% of the 4️⃣2️⃣ tour operators showed up for terrific meetings! NOT ONE SINGLE NO SHOW- a trade show first.

Thank you🚀 Project Future Team for your time and input during our recent meeting. We covered a lot of territory and welcomed three new Committee members:
Fernando Harb, President of the Miami Club and owner of Spotlight Hospitality, Stephen Ekstrom, member of the Tampa Club and owner of Tourism Academy and Greg DeShields, member of the Philly Club and Consultant!

Had a terrific EFTI (Eric Friedheim Tourism Institute) Advisory Board meeting at the University of Florida and a private Behind-the-Scenes tour of HiPerGator, UF’s supercomputer that ranks #3 in the entire country! Student applications are already coming in for our UF Gator Student Chapter of Skal International New York! We are officially ready to roll-out Project Future to all SKAL Clubs.
