Some little entertainment here for you. I used about 2 hours to complete this during my weekend cafe hop. It is a much requirement to be in an AC env when Chiangmai’s temp can go up to 41C. This origami had given me lots of peace, happiness and angst while learning and completing it. Yet emotions are always temporary. #origami #funorigami

My youngest son bought me this blue gel pen when I was back to SG. He said I mentioned how much I love the color in one of our conversations. I tried it on the flight back to CM today and it flows so well for my flower sketch. I’ve tried other ink pens before that doesn’t works and can greatly affect the outcome of a drawing.I’ve previously mentioned about the idea of hosting a ‘zoom sketch together’ session weekly for anyone, teens and above to join me over zoom for sketch practises. I’m thinking of the possibility of hosting a ‘zoom sketch together’ kind of session weekly for anyone teens and above to join me for sketch. I can show you slowly how I sketch in these ongoing sessions, maybe 1.5hr or 1 hr? I haven’t got much details in but just a rough idea. It will be good if you are starting to learn sketching too as I think these sessions can help bring in more practises and build your confidence to sketch outside perhaps. A simple start with pen and paper will do and see whether you like it. This is just a raw idea now, I haven’t created anything, no member, no content, no specifics, just a pure idea that I thought maybe just share on my wall. I will figure out as we go if this goes out anywhere. With a quiet night after rain kind of vibe outside a cafe, I know this is the right spot to sketch away my moment. The door to peace when I draw is super inviting. My hands are moving, eyes observing, ears hearing, nose breathing but my mind is quiet. I find this activity very transformative, like a vacuum that quiets my mind away. It allows me to put aside life issues for a while and enjoy that very 10 or 20mins of sketching time however much I can spare for myself daily. The library is so quiet. I feel no sound vacuum between me and them. I feel they will notice if I draw them. Maybe it’s better to just draw my bag and the couch that will not resist me in anyway. I started my sketch practise a few years ago by drawing single or only a few items combined. It’s easier to practise that way. I started easy with just 0.7 black liner ink pen and any blank notebook, just thicker papers. Thru time and happy, willing consistent practises, I’m now able to combine more things on a piece of paper. I realised that the drawing times will zone me into a very peaceful and calming mode in the right environment. Drawing the kitchen where I live. Always satisfying to see an empty paper turns into a complete picture. It’s super peaceful too drawing… an hour + of concentration and focusing… something like a doing meditation.
