Blow Ur Horn signs are placed all over Batanes. Roads in Batanes are characterized by many sharp curves. Hence, these signs were placed for road safety. These were carved from cliffs and boulders to withstand intense winds. The “your” is always spelled like a text message. Ivatans had etched “UR” in their road signs as early as the American period, even before shortcut style mobile texting was a thing.

FALUWA is a boat native in Batanes that is built without an outrigger or katig. It is capable of riding the waves instead of going against them. Boatmen steer the boat with their feet while keeping an eye on the waves from above the deck.
