What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight ? That we laugh ? Cry ? Our curiosity ? The quest for discovery ?
Driven by these questions, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Yann captures deeply personal and emotional accounts of topics that unite us all; struggles with poverty, war, homophobia, and the future of our planet mixed with moments of love and happiness.

Let's make this quarantine time a time for reflection and hope to be part of the change in our way of life. Let's change our approach to the society paradigm.

The rabelo boat is a traditional Portuguese wooden cargo boat that was used for centuries to transport people and goods along the Douro River.

Native to the Douro region, it does not exist in any other place in the world. Its history is closely linked to the production and trade of port wine. Before the arrival of the railway, the rabelo was the fastest and the most efficient means of transport between the Douro Valley, where port wine is produced, and the city of Porto, where it was traded and exported worldwide.

The name rabelo means 'little tail', on account of the long timber projection from the rear of the boat which is used to steer the vessel.

Every year on June 24, St John's Day, is held a race of rabelo boats, an important and popular event of the festivities of Porto.

“Excellence!” – Portugal named World’s Leading Destination for third consecutive year

continues to ride the wave of international tourism success, having been elected the World’s Leading Destination at the (WTA) for the third year straight.

The distinction is all the more impressive considering that Portugal edged out countries such as the USA, Brazil, Spain, India, Dubai and Greece.

The award ceremony was held on Thursday in Muscat, Oman and saw Portugal winning a total of 12 ‘tourism Oscars’.

was named the World’s Leading City Break Destination and Madeira was crowned the World’s Leading Island Destination while Turismo de Portugal was elected the World’s Leading Tourist Board.

Also on the list of accolades won by Portugal are the World’s Leading Conservation Company (Parques de Sintra) and the World’s Leading Adventure Tourist Attraction (Passadiços do Paiva).

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to “acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the , tourism and hospitality industries.

“Today, the World Travel Award brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of industry excellence,” it says on its website.

HOLIDAY MODE SWITCH: THE ART OF ‘DOING NOTHING’.
When you’re highly productive all year long, relaxing and experiencing stillness may feel a waste of time. However, it’s within these moments that we become fully aware of the present, letting go what we have done - past - and what we should do, the future. Practicing present-moment awareness is one of the easiest ways to drop into holiday mode. This shift can be accomplished through various techniques like yoga and meditation or simply contemplating a sunset while breathing in a slow rhythm is usually sufficient to induce relaxation.

HOLIDAY MODE SWITCH: EXERCISE
Sometimes lounging by a pool trying to relax doesn’t work. The cathartic effect accompanying physical exercise, produced by hormones the body creates to reward itself, is often a shortcut to relaxation. Going to the hotel gym does not count but going to the wild sure will. Learning to Surf, going for a wild swim or hiking a mountain are a surefire way to decompress. The only things you need to focus on are kicking your legs, moving your arms and slowing your breathing down. Research has shown after exercising outdoor you’ll have washed away the worries of work.
