The world was dark, and we had broad daylight.
The first school in history
And the first nation to allow girls' education.
Inscriptions in the tomb of Horemheb in Saqqara.
Girls are like boys.
Half of society.
How can we accept that half of society is ignorant?
This was the thinking and philosophy of the Egyptians.
To build a civilized society, women must be educated.
This wonderful inscription
From the tomb of Horemheb
In Saqqara
From the Eighteenth Dynasty
Demonstrates how the Egyptians cared about girls' education.
During a dark period in the world,
Girls and women were not allowed
To leave their homes.
Across the world, women were viewed by most societies
And countries around Egypt...
Bedouins, Arabs, and Africans
As secondary creatures, with no value other than pleasure.
They viewed women as vessels for s*x, procreation, and pleasure.
She was a slave, bought and sold in slave markets.
She had no voice or role in society.
Here, in the heart of Egypt, women were
Partners, wives, and queens. The female doctor, the leader, and the judge. A woman's tools weren't just a mirror, kohl, perfume, and clothing. Nor were they a knife to cut, a stove to cook, or water to wash. Rather, they were more important: paper, a pen, and a ruler. This is how civilizations are built. This is the secret of the greatness of Egyptian civilization: a society in which women are like men. They are neither half men nor a quarter of them. Women in Kemet were like men. They were fully intellected and fully entitled to rights. While women among the Arabs were deficient in reason and religion, Egyptian women were not marginalized in men's lives. They went out to work, bought, and sold. There were no barriers between them and society. Neither society nor any religion forced them to stay at home, to bear children, serve their husbands, and become idle and unable to participate in the establishment of the greatest civilization known to mankind. They marveled at how the Egyptians built their civilization. How they dominated and rose, and how they lit the lamps of light and civilization thousands of years ago. These are the Egyptians. The first nation in the history of the world to build a civilization
The first educated and enlightened people
And the first civilization built on equality
Between men and women
"To build a successful home,
Join your hand with your wife's hand
For success is not made by one hand."
Thus said the wise man Kagmeni
And this is the Egyptian woman
Like a man, not less than him
Rather, she has what he has and is subject to what he is subject to
Greetings to the authentic Egyptian woman
And you should be proud, Egyptian woman, that you are descended from
The great ones who were the first to give women their full rights
